Description

Her thrillers A Stranger in the House, An Unwanted Guest, Someone We Know and The End of Her were all Sunday Times and New York Times bestsellers. I’ve noticed my reading choices of late have been either contemporary women’s fiction or cozy mysteries with a smattering of other genres here and there- but no psychological thrillers for quite some time.

Erica gives us someone we love to hate but there is a chance she is telling the truth and if she is, Stephanie and her babies are in grave danger. Set in upstate New York, it tells the story of Stephanie and Patrick, who are settling into life with their colicky twin baby girls. While The End of Her is only the second book by Shari Lapena that I’ve read, it certainly will not be my last. Stephanie and Patrick are happily married with twins if you don’t count the babies’ heavy colic problem which turns to torturous nightmare with nonstop crying tournament, agitation and restlessness.

Hanna Bright puts little Teddy in his baby swing on the front porch and sits down to read her novel. This is a classic example of a perfectly good story that gets torn to pieces by a woefully ill-conceived ending. I think he believed from Samantha's suggestions, that after death he would be ethereal and they would meet again. Shari Lapena is the internationally bestselling author of the thrillers The Couple Next Door, A Stranger in the House, An Unwanted Guest, Someone We Know, The End of Her, Not a Happy Family, and Everyone Here Is Lying, which have all been New York Times and The Sunday Times (London) bestsellers. Patrick and I have to put them in the swings and listen to them crying just to bolt down some supper.

And even though Stephanie knows that Erica is diabolical, there's still a seed of doubt about whether she could be telling the truth about Patrick. Even with tangled backstories, some characters come across as one-dimensional, while others make illogical choices. The End of Her” opens with a prologue of a young couple on a snowy night getting ready to visit the woman’s family. Erica claims Patrick's first wife didn't die in a tragic accident but instead Patrick was behind her murder. A terrible accusation is made and the events that follow implicate Patrick in a possible murder case.Shari Lapena is the internationally bestselling author of the thrillers The Couple Next Door, A Stranger in the House, An Unwanted Guest, Someone We Know, The End of Her, Not a Happy Family and Everyone Here is Lying which have all been Sunday Times and New York Times bestsellers. Having read An Unwanted Guest by the same author, The End of Her is a totally new theme and an enjoyable thriller which does not disappoint. She turns to face the fire and the flames are higher now, licking toward the ceiling, but the ceiling hasn't yet caught fire. REVIEWED BY KAREN BYROM A chilling thrilling tale of murder, blackmail and revenge – and here Shari reads an exclusive extract just for you!

Those short sentences may have been used to imply a sense of urgency but, for me, they also made each person seem too much alike. Theodore goes to visit his friend Amy who was also in a relationship with an OS, although I think they were just friends. Shari Lapena proves yet again that she is the mistress of the pacy plot, cliff edge tension and menacing suburban claustrophobia. A good read overall though and I definitely recommend reading it if you have enjoyed the author's other books. Stephanie never would have thought her husband would be a murderer, but as more and more secrets come out, she can't help but question whether or not he's telling her the truth. The latest unputdownable bestseller from Shari Lapena, author of THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR and SOMEONE WE KNOW. Erica, a girlfriend from Patrick’s past shows up with accusations that he murdered his first wife, a death that was ruled accidental. It doesn’t make sense and I laughed out loud when that big ‘twist’ happened because it was so absurd and dumb.
