About this deal

It is a naturally occurring phenomenon that often occurs during warm periods such as spring or early summer. The paving needs to be perfectly dry before you begin sweeping the joint filling material into the joints. Extreme weather conditions can cause white blooms in the joints and on the edges of the paving stones.

You can minimise the formation of moss and algae by ensuring that the joints are always filled to the top with Dansand joint filling sand. To avoid weeds and displacements in the coating, the joint must always be filled to the full height of the joint edge and be completely free of soil and other organic material.Available in 5 colours ranging from black to beige, Easy Joint’s product is again more expensive than Dansand No Grow, so it may not be ideal for larger paving projects. Our professional team of block paving experts is here to break down the jargon and highlight the information you need to make an informed decision. You can also use a high-pressure cleaner, but be careful not to damage the paving stones or the sublayer. The content of the bag should be mixed before sweeping the material into the joints otherwise the binders will not be mixed with the silica sand. Specially designed to be as fine as possible, Dansand No Grow is ideal for joints between 3-10mm and can be brushed into the space between your patio pavers with no added chemicals, then lightly wet to set into a hardened joint.

Excellent product, easy to apply and although not yet tested, it would be great if it did inhibit weeds. Whilst still allowing for water drainage through the joints to help provide ample drainage to your block paving. Item was brand new in original packaging and was few pounds cheaper than the average online retailer, so got a great bargain for original product. Environmentally friendly and suitable for all outdoor block paving installations, Dansand No Grow is specially designed to prevent weed growth between blocks and pavers through a combination of organic minerals and a naturally high pH value.Sure, you may need to re-sand the joints every two years as the vibrations from cars or heavy footfall may loosen them over time, but with such a simple brush in application, you’ll have this job done in no time at all! Likewise, it is important that you have are maintaining your joints on a regular basis, making sure that they are always completely filled. However, since these areas are free from rain, excess salts and minerals from the filling material may migrate to the surface of the joints, causing white efflorescence. Thanks to this filler’s specially designed formula consisting of tiny beads of kiln-dried sand, you’ll find that its naturally nutrient-poor minerals work to suppress weed growth by drying out the seeds before they take root. We have added a mineral additive to DANSAND ® joint filling sand, DANSAND ® Stone dust and DANSAND Kerama ®.

It does not go far and I had to use twice as much as normal dry kiln sand and its twice as expensive. If you use the filling material for coloured, porous pavings, it may settle in small depressions in the stones, leading to discolouring. I contacted Dansand and they said that I probably did not follow the instructions and that they have not had any other complaints and weeds do grow though this product.Though its natural weed-inhibiting abilities are great for regular use, it will struggle in block-paved patios that experience excessive weed growth. Paving stones must be laid on a sustainable gravel and sand layer in accordance with current standards for paving work. Since the minerals are designed to inhibit weed growth for as long as possible, the efflorescence will take a long time to disappear. The joint material has a long lifespan and can endure many year of permeating rain without losing its weed inhibiting effect. Mix the filling material in a bucket or a wheelbarrow using a shovel to mix the mineral additives with the silica sand.

It is therefore important that you filled your joints in a height of 4 cm when you first applied DANSAND® NO GROW™ in 2021. Combined with the weed-inhibiting mineral in the filling sand, mineral salts will seep into the tiles causing efflorescence. During joint filling and during the first days of hardening, the air and soil temperature must be at least 10 ° C. Also, the lime and mineral content in the filling material may leave a whitish coating on the paving stones.Rain will eventually wash the efflorescence away, but normal traffic and/or cleaning may also remove it. The ultimate goal is to AID water flow towards the house which has ACO drains around the edge to run the water away rather than have it spill into the gaps and into the ground around the house, missing the drains.
