Description

These two regions get their names due to their chalky soils, similar to the soils in the Champagne region. In 1927, Rémy Martin created VSOP Fine Champagne and since 1948, every cognac from Rémy Martin has the Cognac Fine Champagne designation. Having said this, Cognacs from the other growth areas are not of lesser quality, they simply have different qualities about them. To be designated VSOP, the youngest brandy in the blend must have been cask-aged for at least four years. The name Champagne on a Cognac bottle refers to its origin, namely the growth area the grapes were grown in.

On the palate: a rounded, well-balanced cognac with multiple layers of ripe fruit and subtle notes of liquorice. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. During the 1960s, l'Alliance Fine Champagne (The Fine Champagne Alliance) was started by André Hériard Dubreuil of Rémy Martin.Cognac is made in the Charentes region of southwest France, mainly from the white grape Ugni Blanc, and is distilled twice in a traditional Charentais pot still. These often coincided with areas that had a predominantly chalky soil, such as the Grande and Petite Champagne terroirs of the Cognac region, and the growth areas in Northern France where the sparking wine, Champagne, is produced.
