It helps to have everything organized, so maybe build some compartments into the box, or bag things up. I recognized early on that this made it very easy for us to see what was what on the board, but I still found it disappointing. One side is gold and the other black, so that you can flip them over as you lose health to show your "empty" hit points.

If you defeat a monster you get to draw a Treasure, but no more than once per turn (thanks to various multi-attacks and area effects, you can defeat multiple monsters in your turn, it just doesn't up your treasure haul). Some mention that it's easy to learn and fairly quick to set up, while others say that it can be difficult at times, and the different quests demand different strategies. Rather than post office leaving it on the floor outside and give no communication at which I have lost many items like that. If you spawn 3 monsters on your turn, someone needs to save your butt before your next turn comes up when those monsters can act again.This is true of every printed piece except of course the cards, which are thinner to allow easy shuffling (still high quality). One thing I haven't mentioned yet is that each character can pick four or five powers unique to them, and while suggested combinations are offered, there's actually about twice as many to choose from, providing lots of opportunity for exploring different approaches to different scenarios. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. In most cooperative games when the players are going up against the board there is an element of change each time through and so you feel like you are playing a different game (though similar). In a nutshell this sidesteps an array of potentially complex rules for plotting monster movement square-by-square while at the same time providing the backbone of tactical choice in the game since the precise positioning of the target on a tile can result in the powers of the monsters and the heroes having different results on the situation.

There is no "basic attack" - but you have two at-wills so you can usually attack in some way if you want.The basic items in the treasure deck are supplemented by more powerful scenario specific items and by one-shot fortunes and blessings. Once the scenario is chosen you lay down the starting tile, which is the dungeon entrance, and put your minis (included) on it.

We played with four players (the game can accommodate up to 5 and there is no GM), and ended up playing 4 scenarios which took about 5 hours total. It was pure luck, I was surrounded by monsters but an Event card threw me to the furthest point of the dungeon away from everyone.It’s another example of a model that’s now done that I can pretty much never concern myself thinking about again. Well, if you didn't end at the edge of a tile, then you don't add any new tiles and you probably don't incur any monsters. For starters there’s no guide as to how tough the various scenarios in the game are, and I can assure you that some are considerably more difficult than others.

They mention that it is a very good game with a long life span, it has great components and game play, and is better than video games. If you save your Q or Z until you get a triple word score, and you always put something down on a double or triple word score no matter how bad your letters are, you will always win against someone who doesn't do that. The usual rules lawyering seemed to vanish, because there was no one to lawyer against, and if we let ourselves get away with stuff we were essentially just letting ourselves win like a 5 year old. It plays essentially the exact same way the 2nd time through because all of the monsters are the same until you get to whatever the final monster or challenge is (this part does vary based on scenario).
