It does feel like wax, too light in texture even for my normal combination skin and that waxy film left on the skin really bothers me. This doesn’t dry out my skin or make it feel tight, instead my face feels clean and soft and it takes of makeup effortlessly. I do get sent products to try out, which I'm happy about because it means that I can be as up-to-date as possible with what's available, however I absolutely do not review anything that I haven't tried. Trying to finish off the various cleansers I have right now… but mostly because I am afraid that my skin won’t like a cleansing balm formula. This purifying cleanser also helps to stop those hidden nasties from clogging up your pores, and used on the reg will keep skin feeling refreshed and nourished. As I said the cleanser rubbed into my skin effortlessly and didn't sting or irritate my very sensitive skin at all, I rubbed the cleanser all over my face including over my eyes to remove my make up.

I use it on travels as my makeup remover of choice because it doesn’t require cotton pads like micellar water does, plus, it does the job quicker, more efficiently, and with less irritation to the skin.

When massaged into dry skin, it melts away make-up with unparalleled ease and feels sumptuous and richly hydrating without being too heavy. Formulated for sensitive skin predominantly, it works just as well on my oily/combination skin (you might just want to follow it up with a second, more active cleanse in the evening). As a self-confessed lazy girl, Shannon has an affinity for hard-working perfumes, fool-proof make-up products and does-it-all skincare. I really like the Antipodes one but I have to warn you that it doesn’t “wash” off like this or from what I understand, the Clinique one too.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Also, although it says in the instructions that you can just rinse this off (think cleansing oil again – emulsify and then wash off) I find that it is best removed with a face cloth (I wish it was sold with one! The anti-inflammatory action of the Roman Chamomile is due to phenolic compounds and - according to manufacturer info- it also has some nice skin toning properties. When I was using the Antipodes Butter Cleanser, once I wiped it off, my skin would feel smooth, soft and clean.

In practice, I still want my cleansers to be very effective, feel and smell nice and work with my double cleansing philosophy. A second round of cleansing usually gets rid of it, but for this reason, I am not a fan of this product. Considering that I’ve already emptied three tins of this cleansing balm, this review is actually coming pretty late. I gently rub it all over my face including my eyes (yes it’s gentle enough) and then take a hot muslin cloth to gently remove all of my makeup.Oh and the cloth cleansing method is truly life … ok, not life, but skin changing for me and for the better! I find this quite interesting, because when I place the product in the palm of my hand, it almost immediately starts to melt. The state of my skin has been a real annoyance over the last few years—sometimes it would be plagued with spots, while a few weeks later, it would switch in a second and become insufferably dry. The texture is light, which is a marked difference from the Antipodes butter cleanser that has a pronounced balmy texture.
