About this deal

At times, it made it uncomfortable to read certain passages, because of how hard hitting and raw it was. It wasn't hushed up like it was a bad thing; rather, it was explained in a clear way, and shown that while it can be painful and heartbreaking to sufferers and their families, there are various methods to deal with it. The humor I think is known as "British humor" and it's kinda close to my type of humor, but not really.

Holly Bourne worked as an editor and relationship advisor for a youth charity for six years before becoming a full-time author. I may be overreacting but Am I Normal Yet may be one of the best YA contemporaries I’ve read to date. Being a spinster means not altering who you are, what you believe in, and what you want just because it makes a boy’s life easier.Books that acknowledge or explore mental health issues can help to increase awareness, encourage dialogue, reduce stigma and develop real understanding. With all the boys, the drama and the mental health issues, Evie had a lot to handle and I felt like I was right there with her. Embarrassingly, I kept rooting for Evie to work it out with one of the boy’s despite his shocking behaviour, which is an insight into my teenage unrequited loves and self-esteem. If you are looking for a book that empowers women, and talks about relevant and important topics in life, this is the perfect book to pick.

Still, I have to say that this first book in the spinster club series was not a pleasant experience for me. Similarly fans of OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Haydu and Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill should appreciate this one. As for OCD, I won't state an opinion simply because I don't have much knowledge of it besides the generally known concepts of it. Not realising that if those words are said to you by a medical health professional, as a diagnosis of something you'll probably have for ever, they're words you don't appreciate being misused every single day by someone who likes to keep their house quite clean".Auch die Feminismus-Thematik, der sich die 3 Mädels in ihrem Spinster-Club widmen, fand ich super spannend und zum Nachdenken anregend.
