Tot er op een dag in haar geheime plekje iemand haar om het leven brengt en ze dood in bad wordt aangetroffen.

While I understand Roy's concerns over becoming a new father to his ex-wife's son, but the book spent way to much time on his thoughts about that, taking too much time away from the main plot.

The readers of Need You Dead well learn about the issues parent and child have when it is the first time they meet each other. Showboat Medical Examiner Margot Heavner makes it clear that, breaking with her department’s earlier practice ( The Bone Collection, 2016, etc. There is the aftermath of the suicide of Grace’s first wife and all the complications of expatriating the body from Germany to the UK and the funeral arrangements to be organised. Its a stressful time for Roy so he can be forgiven for maybe not being totally on the ball with the Lorna Belling case. Despite some serious information overload—including a glossary of police terms, a chart of police ranks and insignia, and a superabundance of police characters—James has never forgotten how to make the pages fly.

The Grace stories almost always go to the top of the bestseller lists, not least because they are supremely well-told. With the paperwork of the three previous cases to clear up the last thing Grace needs is a who-dun-nit murder of a married women in a flat she rented away from her husband. Hours after learning that Greg, her married lover who was about to divorce his wife and rescue her from her controlling husband, isn’t really about to divorce his wife and isn’t even named Greg, hairdresser Lorna Belling’s unexpectedly violent final confrontation with the faithless adulterer leaves her dead and her killer working feverishly to erase all traces of his involvement with her. I'm a huge fan of Peter James and have also read a few of his 'non-Roy Grace' books (he has written horror/thrillers as stand-alone) and they are also brilliant so keep your eyes peeled for this author. Peter James has long demonstrated how a police procedural can not only be intriguing but well written.Peter’s novella, ‘ The Perfect Murder’ (2010) went straight in at No 1 in the iBooks chart and spent 40 consecutive weeks in the iBooks Top 10. After hearing that his ex-wife has committed suicide in Germany, he discovers that he has a ten-year old son, Bruno, that he knew nothing of. I have no preconceptions of a Peter James novel, so for me I was very intrigued by the technology utilised by the police. Enjoy more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with Dead If You Don’t and Dead at First Sight.

Ich habe die gesamte Roy Grace Reihe gelesen und finde, dass dieses Buch zu den spannendsten (aus dieser Reihe) gehört. Grace is pivotal and along with his colleagues is faced with genuine dilemmas caused by budget and resource constraints and the expectation of his old adversary, Pewe. Lorna Belling, desperate to escape the marriage from hell, falls for the charms of another man who promises her the earth. There was a real sense of the tremendous impact that something like this has on everyone involved and how at times a trail can lead to a suspect and a subsequent crime not related to the original investigation. Now I will be total honest and say that this is my first Peter James Book and although it reads perfectly well as a stand alone, this is a series that I want to go back to the beginning and read them all.I've been looking forward to my next Roy Grace 'fix' and in Need You Dead, Peter James delivers another blistering story in a series that's maintained momentum.

Gives an easy to understand explanation of police jargon and slang and adds useful background to the procedural approach. The possible culprit is faced with an overwhelming accumulation of evidence in a murder case, one involving Lorna Belling, a beautiful woman hairdresser in an abusive marriage, making her husband a suspect in her murder, along with the accused cop.

A fatal car accident that was anything but accidental has jarred loose a stash of methamphetamines and cash that’s become the center of a battle between the Sons of Freedom, Bakken County’s traditional drug sellers, and MS-13, the Salvadorian upstarts who are muscling in on their territory. Roy Grace at work comes across as a man who cares deeply for his team and yet also has a tone when he means business with them. Heavner isn’t exactly mollified when Tempe, aided by retired police detective Skinny Slidell and a host of experts, puts a name to the dead man. I believed there was, and it was looking more and more likely I'd guessed the real murderer quite early on. Roy now has two sons Bruno and Noah, meanwhile a murder of a woman has taken place but is it murder?
