While the Cult Gaia dolls came out back in October (review coming soon), the recently released Mowalola dolls have had Bratz fans brimming with excitement as the UK-based designer brings an edgy flair to two fan favorites characters: Jade and Felicia! The collaboration brings the dolls back with a 2022-does-Y2K touch but maintains the fun-loving and high-fashion aesthetic of the original dolls. The Mowalola dolls come with some accessories, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity, mannequin stand, and doll stand.

But the thing is, it was only after getting her out of the box and actually playing with her for a while that I was able to realize the magnitude of her greatness.Mowalola is recognized for bold, creative looks that focus on diversity and embracing individuality without rules, a sentiment that is shared by Bratz and MGA Entertainment at large," said Isaac Larian, CEO and Founder of MGA Entertainment in a press release. I would probably redress her with clothing from the Pretty 'N' Punk line (which, conveniently, is next up in terms of reproductions! With her extravagant packaging, slicked-down hair, and hard-to-use clothing, Felicia feels like a doll that was never meant to be removed from her box. If the bag had the same fabric quality and construction details as the Surprise Mini Fashions purses, for example, it would rank among the best doll accessories I've ever encountered.

Mowalola has also stated that this collection takes inspiration from Bratz lines like Pretty ‘N’ Punk, Live In Concert, Treasures, and Tokyo A Go-Go, so it only makes sense! The color contrasts seemed jarring, and I wasn't sure I could get on board with the bright yellow hair. Jade’s shoes remind me a bit of the shoes that come with the Tokyo A Go-Go Collector’s Edition dolls.First impression- The combo of her dark skin, bright yellow hair, and red and yellow outfit made me think of the original Clawdia Wolf doll! But as I played with Felicia and tried out all of her different outfit and posing combinations, I became more and more impressed. The fashions on the Mowalola dolls are incredibly fun and create new quality standards for the Bratz brand. Unlike the typical trapezoid shape that most Bratz dolls employ, the Mowalola dolls have an asymmetrical box in which one half of the trapezoid is shorter than the other, with the other half being taller; the character names printed on the plastic shell of each box start off large on the shorter end, then progressively get smaller as they continue up to the packaging’s tip. Each doll arrives in premium display packaging, complete with two detailed outfits, shoes, handbags, accessories and a certificate of authenticity.

Felicia comes with the “MTV” zip-up jacket and skirt, “5 Star” top, “Poison Pleaser” platform boots, “Venom” dress, “Toxic” sunglasses, and “Glam Gecko Bundle” bag.

Both dolls have been given the full Mowalola treatment; Felicia has yellow and black thigh-high platform boots, a red MTV leather jacket, or a black maxi dress with black detailing. The stand is too short for Felicia, so it's included entirely for the purpose of holding up the fashion form or mannequin. The “M” logo is also featured on the inside of Felicia’s boots, which leads me to talk about the shoes. A year ago, many were disappointed by quality control and distribution issues with nearly every Bratz release.

Along with platform shoes and knee-high socks, Jade is decked in a mesh yellow 'STAR LAVA' dress with red pleather stars.Those critiques might take a lot of words to describe, but they don't overwhelm Felicia's good attributes. Felicia wears a red pleather ‘MTV’ zip-up jacket and skirt with the Mowalola logo, a white star-shaped ‘5 STAR’ pleather top, and ‘POISON PLEASER’ platform boots.
