About this deal

Now known as Lord Dain, he held quite a bit of influence over Bertie Trent, Jessica’s brother, and was driving him to ruin. She is a 26 year old spinster who was caught in a very compromising position with Lord Sebastian Ballister (Marquess of Dain), nicknamed Beelzebub.

It didn’t matter than Bertie was losing everything in his attempt to live the same self serving, self indulgent lifestyle that Dain did. Chase adds that Dain's difficult childhood stemmed from his parents' inability to accept each other's cultures, which then "warps him and makes him a misfit. Spending his money on women every night, drinking and gambling was what Dain enjoyed…and could easily afford. Sebastian Ballister is a strong determined and successful man who through lifes bitter experience has built an invisible wall around himself, no one is allowed to get close to the real man - Jessica Trent is also strong and determined but very tenacious when dealing with Sebastian in trying to achieve her set goal.AND THAT ladies and gentleman was the first of many reasons as to why the hero married Jessica Trent.

Sebastian, the lord of scoundrels himself, is the passionate, larger-than-life, half-Italian half-English Marquess of Dain. Romantic fiction scholars have identified Jessica Trent as a "feminist heroine" with whom the "alpha male hero" has met his match. I was expecting something along the lines of Anne Stuart's RUTHLESS or Elizabeth Hoyt's DUKE OF SIN. It was fun to read a complicated hero (even if he gave incel vibes at the beginning of the book) and Jessica was such a fun heroine. So from the first page of Lord of Scoundrels we are treated to a grand story with wonderfully realized characters who break the standard romance novel stereotype.

At times I felt sooo sorry for Dain, who grew up unwanted and unloved, but other times I wanted to slap him upside the head and tell him to grow up already! The prologue was quite long and didn’t really make much sense – but eventually I’m glad because it tied the whole story nicely. pero qué capacidad de Chase para conseguir que este mujeriego, manipulador, mentiroso, bruto y, en muchas ocasiones, canalla en el mal sentido de la palabra. If saving him—and with him, her family and future—means taking on the devil himself, she won't back down.
