I feel like the G-SR-SE gives a more balanced glide between speed and control and it’s one of the higher quality pads out there, but given the fact that it’s coated it won’t last you forever either. When it comes to performance, a mousepad will fall into one of three categories – control, speed, or balance. I unfortunately haven’t tested the Cougar Control EX so I can’t really make any sensible replies to your question. Is there any other mousepads that are better than the G640 in terms of tracking, control, and flicking? It works get for me at 400dpi and I find now I’m not running out of space where I was doing on a 350mm x 250mm x 4mm pad.

The glide itself is consistent across the board; it’s easy to do big flicks in a smooth motion, but the pad also offers a decent amount of resistance for when you’re doing small micro adjustments. Performance-wise, if you’re looking for a mousepad with great control, and that’s all that matters to you, then it would be easy to recommend this one. The cloth is well bonded to the rubber so doesn’t bunch up at the front when pressure is being applied and there is zero movement on the desk surface I had it base one. Because of the great longevity of the glide itself (you don’t need to wash the pad a lot at all) it’s a bit of a bummer that there are no stitched edges to further reinforce the ‘this pad will last’ feeling, but that’s obviously always something that can be improved on in the future.
