Brick-a-brac is a UK based e-commerce retailer specialising in discontinued, rare and exclusive LEGO products. I like the detailing in the rods on the sides too - a black wand, a black lightsaber handle, a cone, and another wand.

Possibly the easiest (and least-modded looking) would be put a train motor under the tender (but as noted in the review, that would take significant modification to do), the battery and IR in the jail car (again, needing mods to do it), and then put the jail car after the tender with the wire going between.I'm not a train builder by any means, and have no clue about how all that needs to be rigged up to run. You may have guessed by now that this blog is less about investing and more about how to add power to a train set. The trapdoor is a quick way to get some basic play features for the kids, and some round black plates on top help the appearance. Since the center driving wheels are flangeless and there's nice articulation between the front and main parts, it'll work just fine on Lego track. The jail car would be simple - take out the lever and bar windows, fill in those gaps, and it's a great little boxcar.

The dynamite (with a little help from the red lever on the other leg) is ready to crash the water tower across the train tracks! While many licensed sets rely on the Minifigures alone to carry the entire model, in this case I feel that the vehicle more than lives up to the standard of the superb figures. It's a nice length for pushing around by hand, although it definitely helps to have it on the track since the front bogey on the logo flops around if you don't. Help Tonto to place the dynamite and blow up the water tower to stop the speeding train in its tracks! The above shots shot the car in its original state, the "box" portion rests on a 6x14 plate with the wheels attached underneath.

For the record I have grabbed a few of these sets at an extreme markdown just in case people forget about the "Lone Ranger" aspect and see them for what they are, excellent Western themed sets. There are a few trans-blue parts inside the tank to be the water, and the whole thing is ready to topple.

No problem - just amusing since we discussed this in the Reviewer's Academy and decided train was the best place for it since I reviewed it AS a train set. It is interesting to note that the designer of this set is Marcos Bessa, an AFOL, which suggests the design may have been influenced even more than usual by designs exhibited online as well as past LEGO sets. The next section to be built is the coal tender which can open up to hide a Minifigure inside and has a few black studs on the top to represent coal.

I wouldn't think twice about running them on the same layout, especially if you added some driving rods to the wheels. For the kids, it's a great train with lots of play possibility, sturdy enough to play with, and it comes with track to play on. It always seemed flimsy to me, and it was annoying to push around by hand since both sets of wheels are articulated on that locomotive. What I was unprepared for was the speed default on Lego train motors, turns out that if you don't have a speed controller they are set to around Mach 5 and will send a small train such as this flying off the tracks, much to the delight of my seven year old. You could put a train motor under the tender, but it'd take modification of the floor to work, and there's not room for a battery box in the tender.
