The urge to weed your patch everyday is a good one, as reducing competition for your harvest is an important thing to do, but it’s crucial to understand how and why we get weeds in our kitchen gardens. She is the author or co-author of several books on cultivating and using edible plants including The Kew Gardener’s Guide to Growing Vegetables (Frances Lincoln, 2020) and The Botanical City (Hoxton Mini Press, 2020). The kitchen garden really is possible for all of us, and I'm excited to grow with you in your own gardening journey this year.

I put in seeds for all the early spring vegetables: lettuces in abundance, spinach, French arugula, microgreens galore, kale, Swiss chard, pac choi, radishes, peas. It has lifted the veil from the eyes of the population as to where our food comes from, and how reliant we are on the seemingly unfaltering chain of international trade.

The Kitchen Garden at Trengwainton Garden, Cornwall Trengwainton is home to five different walled gardens, including the Kitchen Garden. Here in the kitchen garden we are growing healthy, wildlife-friendly and people-friendly food using Organic methods and Permaculture principles.Garden and Kitchen go hand in hand, from sowing the seeds to making the final dish be it a preserve, meals or drinks. Little is better than gardening to the surround sound of songbirds whilst working towards a mission of growing as much delicious food as possible. This isn't heavy lifting, just a little pruning here, a little planting there, again and again throughout the growing season. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
