About this deal
Janet was both the hero and villain in her own story - she was flawed, troubled and damaged, she made terrible choices but underneath it al was a kind hearted woman who just wanted to feel love and safety in a world that had none of those things.
As the train crash happens and things spiral incredibly quickly, I couldn’t help but feel anxious on if people would find out or discover anything. I absolutely loved Charlotte’s debut novel If I Can’t Have you, so I was excited to read this new story If I Let You Go.Then, Janet finds herself involved in a train crash and, recognising the chance to do what she couldn’t all those years ago, she makes a decision. I absolutely adored Charlotte’s debut novel If I Can’t Have You (see my full review here) so I was really excited to read her second standalone book If I Let You Go which is out now.
As for the ending, it couldn’t have been more perfect; quietly teasing before finishing on the gentlest, most satisfying of flourishes. Like all of us would, she saw an opportunity and took it, spiralling into a lie that became almost impossible to bear. But Janet's story isn't quite what it seems, and as events spiral out of control, she soon discovers that coming clean isn't an option. As news spreads of Janet’s actions, her story inspires everyone around her, and for the first time her life has purpose and the future is filled with hope.
