Topics include early reading and the joy of reading; early writing development; boys′ writing; the nature of outdoor play and how to make this truly ‘outdoor’; the role of parents in child development; mathematics in play; when and how to do intervention work with children; how to get Headteachers and centre managers on board. Right away I could tell that Greg makes clear sense in what he's saying in that what our youngest children need is the "best version of you" and your understanding that they are children and will create noise, mess, chaos and fun! Both are highly impactful and creative ways to bring learning to life based on the view that children are capable, creative and need agency in their education so that they are authentic learners and we can be authentic educators. I advise all to read, EYFS practitioners, KS1 teachers, KS2 teachers, Child minders, Ofsted inspectors and any member of an SLT. A very experienced Early Years teacher has gone back to the drawing board, questioned all of the status-quo ‘that’s how things have always been done’ and has built an alternative set of principles.

The vast numbers of people who have felt it, tells me that the World of Good Things is out there and it is growing, so it gives momentum for my own work. Out of all the wonderful nuggets that Greg Bottrill left us with yesterday at the Early Years Conference, my favourite was this question for all educators and settings to consider. Children only have a childhood once and I believe that not only is it the chrysalis of identity itself, it holds all the things that can truly connect children to their educational experiences.
