Fuelled by a lust for life and a desperate desire to do anything except what he's supposed to be doing (writing that novel and growing up), Dave falls under the spell of an obscure internet word game - Googlewhacking.

All transaction information passed between Guy's Magnets Ltd T/A MapsWorldwide and Sage Pay’s systems is encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates. i was entranced to wath the rest of it, then again, i saw it again, but just the end, THEN i made sure i was able to watch all of it the next time it came on and again i was laughing as much as was possible without sounding like a maniac. Each person is only allowed to find two Googlewhacks, and Gorman must complete the challenge before his 32nd birthday. This Gorman proposes a bet to the original Gorman: To find 10 Googlewhacks in a row, if each Googlewhack has to find 2 more Googlewhacks. Philip Brandes of Los Angeles Times reviews the show positively, praising Gorman's "impeccable" timing and ability to link the "disparate narrative threads" seamlessly.

Since then, Tim FitzHigham has attempted to sail to France in a bath, Richard Herring has updated the 12 Labours of Hercules and "Gormanesque" has become journalistic shorthand for umpteen Edinburgh festival fringe gigs based on ludicrous follies utilising a pointer and a MacBook. Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure is a stand-up comedy performance by Dave Gorman which toured between 2003 and 2005. It's compelling first because it's funny, in so many different ways I could only tell you "read it and see! Genius Series 3' sees Dave Gorman and celebrity guests Charlie Brooker, Matthew Wright, Gyles Brandreth, Rob Newman, Germaine Greer and Simon Munnery chew over ridiculous, unworkable but sometimes genius inventions, schemes and policies of the public.Oh yes, I could make drunk strangers in bars take me seriously, and to be honest, wouldn’t that be enough? When a Republican party wins the General Election, they strip the royal family of everything and send them to live on a housing estate in the Midlands. The result is a funny and interesting travelogue that takes you across continents on a somewhat mad journey. The outcome of that was a particularly funny stand up show where he gave a PowerPoint presentation about his journey, showing graphs and the like to illustrate it in an engaging and entertaining way.

He then toured Australia and England again and performed at the Canadian Just for Laughs festival in July 2004.It's surprising how some of it has aged, with him struggling to get online without lessons in WiFi hotspots and cyber cafes, and not always expecting everyone (whether met in the story or reading it) to be Internet literate, but Dave Gorman's openness, eagerness for people and adventure are still minty fresh.
