About this deal

The updated Samsung Seamless Codec encodes the full 24-bit audio to decode on the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, maintaining that same 24-bit high-quality sound. We've reached out to Samsung to clear up whether this issue was explicitly addressed on the Buds2 Pro, but for now we'd avoid them if you have a nickel allergy. Sometimes, the battery will actually drain before I get the chance to remove the buds from my ears, scarcely noticing how many hours passed. Impressively, the battery lasts 7 hours 43 minutes with ANC on, trouncing the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro battery life.

Support for 24bit audio ensures music and movies sound clear and spacious for a thrillingly immersive audio experience. Everything is tested by our dedicated team of in-house reviewers in our custom-built test rooms in London, Reading and Bath. The material on this site may not be reproduced, distributed, transmitted, cached or otherwise used, except with the prior written permission of Condé Nast. While the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) does a better job of adhering to our target, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro has better active noise canceling.

Thankfully, a fast charge of five minutes will give you one hour of battery and they can be charged wirelessly or via USB-C. They boast end-to-end 24-bit high-resolution playback (with caveats), immersive 360 audio with dynamic head tracking, better active noise cancellation (ANC), a sleeker design, and plenty more features that are designed to make life easier when using them every day. Disclaimer: 360 Audio is available only on Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets with Android One UI version 3. We need to know the data rate to make any meaningful comparison to the amount of information that is being relayed when playing 24-bit audio. In separate instances, a man and a woman walk down an urban sidewalk, both wearing Galaxy Buds2 Pro. The headphones sound energetic but not muddy, a clear soundstage that's aided by above-average noise canceling.

Samsung says Bluetooth LE “Low Energy” Audio will also arrive later this year alongside the One UI 5. They even give their main competitor, Google’s Pixel Buds Pro ( 9/10, WIRED Recommends), a run for their money. I still think spatial audio is only good for movies, so it was nice to use there, but not necessary for serious musical listening. Fit is pretty much in the ear of the beholder, and the Galaxy Buds 2 earbuds fit me better, but both are very comfortable. Samsung has partnered with AKG (a subsidiary of Harman International, now owned by Samsung) for the last few years to tune the Galaxy Buds series.Actual battery life may vary and depend on usage conditions, settings, number of times charged, Bluetooth signal strength and other factors. Of course, any comparison with other brands invites the inevitable Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) mention. Samsung has confirmed to us that the Buds 2 Pro support 24-bit/48kHz audio at a data rate of 584kbps.

Magnets keep the lid closed, but the case is its own kind of dust magnet too, picking up dust particles like a lint trap in a clothes dryer. On my Samsung tablet, the connection defaults to the exclusive Samsung Seamless Codec, running at a 16-bit/44. If they don’t fit well, however, the buds are so small that it can be tricky to get your fingers around them to place them just right. Many headphone makers have adopted the “Pro” moniker, but very few are delivering the audio quality along with it.Press your fingers on the touch panels of the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro until the light blinks red, blue, and green. The earbuds themselves are now 15 per cent smaller, designed to fit even more snugly in your ears without sticking out much, if at all.
