Description

Do not exceed the weight limit instructed on the tripod ladder as you increase the risk of damage to the ladder and an injury for yourself. One of the other great features about the Henchman tripod is the fact that is has the highest working weight. This ladder can cope with holding a weight of 150kg, (23.6 stone) which would allow most people to stand on the ladder using tools at the same time.

When you’re up high balancing for long periods of time on the edge of your foot it just isn’t comfortable. You definitely want to think about having a deep step. One of my favourite tripod ladders for a deep step is the 8ft Henchman. This is remarkably comfortable – 7 inches isn’t much more than the competition in some cases but it takes so much straight off the middle of my foot. Wide clawed feet I would say that yes, if you can afford it, and regularly have a do jobs outside in the garden that require a freestanding ladder then you will benefit from a tripod ladder enormously. But that’s not my main reason for liking these. What sets them apart from most is the deep platform step. If you’ve got big feet like me then you really appreciate having a much more stable base. It definitely results in less pressure on your foot. Don’t use a platform stepladder as a non-self-supporting ladder (leaning it against a wall for example) The welded aluminium structure of this tripod ladder is very high quality work and the whole ladder has a solid feel to it. However, it is still very easy to carry around due to the lightweight of the main material.

Straight ladders can be more prone to accidents due to the fact they can be tipped over fairly easily, and you can lose traction while working with one. Bad weather and an uneven surface can make it more difficult to use your ladder safely. The effects of this can be reduced by our different options for ladder feet. They are ideal for outdoor use but can also be used inside to protect your floors from being marked by the ladder as well as increasing your safety whilst using them. In addition to this, the wide stance of this ladder when fully adjusted to the maximum gives you a feeling of sturdiness that is hard to beat. Being able to face the job and work head on is both more comfortable and safer as you have more stability and less tension in your muscles to keep yourself stable. 7 Inch Platform At the Top While some tripod ladders have the ability to have all 3 legs adjusted, this model only has one leg that can be changed to alter the overall spread of the weight, but to be honest, I never felt that I needed to have any more than that. The weight seemed perfectly balanced between the legs at all times and I felt very secure up there, even at the top: Heavy duty, contoured feet are fitted on to the end of each section – providing brilliant grip against the wall, when using as an extension ladder

Built in platform on the third step. Makes it very comfortable to stand for longer periods of time without having to balance.

A surprisingly large number of injuries caused by people falling off ladders while gardening are down to using the wrong type of ladder. Contoured feet fitted on the end of each section which provides strong grip against a wall when using as an extension ladder

It did cost more money than the others in this post, however with the extra features, like the long handlebars, top platform and the fact that all of the legs are adjustable made it worthwhile for me. I know I said the Hendon standard tripod ladder was my favourite, but I didn’t say it was the best. To be honest, this one, the Henrys tripod ladder from Henchman, has the best overall features and is easily what you should be measuring standards by 🙂 In the market for a new tripod ladder but are a little unsure about what constitutes as a good model to choose? Here we have put a short list of features that all top tripod ladders should have. Safety When considering whether to get a tripod ladder or a normal A-frame ladder you need to consider what makes a tripod ladder the right choice for you and why you potentially should choose a tripod ladder instead of a standard ladder. To decide whether you should be buying a tripod ladder or a different type of ladder you need to think about what your main needs are for your ladder. Our mobile steps have a massive 300 KG safe working load which have been independently tested (certificate available upon request) for your peace of mind and reassurance that these are top quality. Each rung of the ladder has a double bar platform, which means there is more of a step to stand on to help you stay balanced.

As with many ladders on the market our range of tripod ladders are constructed from industrial grade aluminium. These means they are incredibly strong and stable when being used as well as lightweight to carry and move around when you want to get into a suitable position and store when finished. This is particularly useful for tripod ladders because anyone of any age will be able to use it with ease without risk of an injury. Rubber stoppers fitted to the side of each section ensure you cannot over extend the ladder – a crucial safety feature, which many others do not have step models & up come with a central braking system (as seen in the images below). The 3 tread models come with a side handle brake system. 2 tread models come with 4 self weight retracting castors. The Hendon’s broad feet do an excellent job of gripping soft ground and you really feel dug in and stable. On top of that, there are rubber caps for the feet that will allow you to use this ladder on harder surfaces without slipping or being off balance. For your safety, we do not recommend repairing a ladder that is damaged. If your ladder is starting to show signs of wear and tear and you think it is not secure enough to use anymore, you can find your new ladder from us at BPS Access Solutions. What should I do before using my ladder? On ladders up to and including 1.8m you should never stand higher than 3 steps from the top. With ladders over 1.8m you shouldn’t stand higher than 4 steps from the top as you lose control over your balance and could have a serious accident. Integral stabiliser bar, with hard wearing, non-slip rubber feet ensures maximum grip at the base – a superb safety feature which is essential for any trade ladder to comply with EN131 safety standards
