Description

The Boss RC-5 is one of the most powerful Loop Stations on the market. Boss are the industry standard for Loop Stations and the RC-5 has brought them to the future. Q. Share or publish the results of any benchmarking of the Software without Roland’s prior written consent; As is the custom, you can connect the Loop Station via the USB-B port to a PC or Mac to save or record loops. Otherwise, the RC-5 has only one other port, to which you can connect an unfortunately not included power supply.

The display is also segmented to show how different loops sync together. This could be a handy way to manage different length loops as you can how the loops interact with each other. Who is the RC-5 for? It took me a minute to figure out how to work the auto-record feature. Turns out that my guitar just wasn’t loud enough for the pedal to process the signal. However, at the time of writing, the footswitches aren't reassignable beyond their 'hold' function, and the 'stop all' switch is on the second row, as are the 'stop' switches for the four main loops. Anyone with experience of live-looping will tell you that you're usually juggling loops, and the footswitches need to be as close to your feet as possible. Live use: some pedals are easier to use in live performances than others. You probably don’t want to need to bend down to adjust your pedals in a performance.

Value: there’s a big difference in price between the loop station models. Think about how often you plan on using your looper and what it’s worth to you

There are more rhythym options & settings than I'll ever need or use, but that's a good thing. It means that anything I could possibly want is in there. For a better understanding of music theory, Punkademic’s Comprehensive Complete is what I always recommend via the All-Access Pass. Actually understanding basic rudiments and harmony will help your creativity big-time. 9) How To Store Many Loops and Samples on the RC-5 The BOSS RC5 Loop-Station Compact Pedal is now available from Merchant City Music, online and in our Glasgow store. We ship fast to the UK, Europe and Worldwide. BOSS RC-5 Loop Station - Compact looper pedal with advanced BOSS looping features Looper pedals are made by a number of different companies, many of which you might recognize. The Boss looper series is probably the most famous – Ed Sheeran used an RC-30 before he got his own looper board custom built for him. TC Electronic also makes an amazing range of looper pedals. You’ll find some great options from the likes of Electro-Harmonix, MXR and more. How much should I spend on a looper pedal?

With 57 preset rhythms and seven different drum kits, the RC-5 is ready to elevate loop and practice sessions with inspiring grooves for any style. For each rhythm, A/B variations can be selected from the panel or controlled via MIDI while performing. The RC-5’s looper engine also includes a cool reverse function that’s great for infusing your music with fresh sonic colours. Capture, Practice &Perform The RC-5 is the same size as the two above pedals, but you’ll instantly notice a big change with the pedal’s interface as shown below. We believe the Boss RC-5 to be an excellent device for beginners who are looking for a Loop Station with an integrated drum machine. The signal processing of the device is state of the art with 32 bits and the sound of the drum machine is great for a device of this price class. The 99 memory slots should be sufficient for most users, and for a beginner, the 13 hours of recording time should be more than enough.Limitation Period. Except as stated in this Section, all claims must be made within the period specified by applicable law. If the law allows the parties to specify a shorter period for bringing claims, or the law does not provide a time at all, then claims must be made within 18 months after the cause of action accrues.

MIDI control: when you get to this level of looping, you’re probably going to want MIDI. MIDI gives you an easy way to sync up multiple pedals and instruments. The RC-30 is possibly the most popular looper pedal of all time with live performers. More often than not, when you see a live performer creating loops, you’ll see an RC-30 on the pedalboard. It’s easy to see why when you consider how much control the RC-30 gives you. The HeadRush pedalboard amp modeller and multi-effects unit sounds fantastic, but despite having a large touch-screen, it's less intuitive to use than other units, such as the Line 6 Helix. If you’re a live performer looking for a solid range of features, the choice is tough between the RC-5 and other units such as the RC-10R, RC-30, or RC-500. BOSS RC-3 vs RC-5 You’re able to connect an external footswitch so if in the future you begin to feel limited by the one footswitch, you can easily expand it for more control. RC-3 vs Ditto X2

The Automatic mode will begin recording as soon as you start playing. The Count-in mode gives you a bar of rhythm set at a tempo of your choice (using a tap tempo button) before it starts recording. In addition to parallel operation, the loops can be set to series: the one starting after the other for more streamlined transitions between sections in a song. So it goes with the Ditto X2. Incredibly simple on the front panel, there's a single control for the loop volume, then it's one tap to record, one to play, and there's a dedicated stop button. The user manual provided by Boss is more of a cheat sheet than a real manual, but despite being quite short it covers all the important features of the device, which is a great testament to how easy is it to use the RC-5. But a more detailed reference manual is available, in case you want to know all the details about how the device works. Conclusion The above video uses a BOSS RC-50, which has been discontinued. But you can still achieve the same results with many of the pedals covered below. Which Loop Station is Best?
