I'm guessing but I think the Power IQ 2.0 is not a PD type device. It is probably like the Samsung Fast Charger for android phones. My Samsung charger didn't work on my R5. According to the power meter, my camera draws about 1,400 ma @ 5.2 volts which should be possible with the Samsung. However, it doesn't seem to work. USB-C chargers have 3 or 4 modes they operate in depending on what type of device they are charging. The Power Delivery circuitry figures out what the device needs and supplies it, which is a different setup than a straight USB-C charger. It’s also quite a bit lighter – 680g with a card and battery, compared to the R5’s 738g – although you lose the shooting data screen on the top of the camera, instead having to rely on the touchscreen monitor to see how you’re set up.

The requirements are very specific. I would guess you'll need something in and around 7.5v and capable of 3 amps (to match the battery). That statement still stands and the EOS R5 remains the best mirrorless camera that Canon has made so far. It's almost certainly the best Canon camera on the market right now too. But with the Sony A7S III and Sony A1 now here, and Canon responding with firmware updates for the EOS R5 and the announcement of the Canon EOS R3, is it already on the verge of being overshadowed? Is this PD? - Poweriq 2. 0: our brand-new exclusive technology. Intelligently identifies your device to deliver the fastest possible charge. As shown by the arrow, flip out the battery charger's prongs and insert the prongs into a power outlet. The upshot: the new LP-E6NH batteries don't give you much more capacity after initial wear (about 8 recharges). Benefit is all about communication with camera firmware in the new R5/R6.

The manual covers powering the camera from USB. Apparently, its only for a limited time, it says use a fully charged battery. See the last bullet below. Zebra patterns are also used on the R5 to indicate exposure levels on video. Zebras can be used on the camera or on external monitors, making the camera perfect for bigger shoots, and blurring the lines between cine cameras and smaller mirrorless bodies. Canon EOS R5 vs EOS R6: In-camera editing One final area where the R6’s reduced bandwidth needs are reflected is battery life – where you can expect 490 shots on the R5 using its monitor to frame up, or 320 using the EVF, the R6 is rated to shoot up to 510 shots with the monitor or 380 with the viewfinder. The video specs for the R5 look fantastic, 8K 30P 4K 120P and the ability to pull 35MP stills from 8K video is really exciting. TechRadar reported excellent battery life at 2300+ shots with a LP-E6NH and EVF (unclear if 60 hz or 120 hz).

The blue columns represent the gross usable power in the battery, which Canon won by about 10-15%. The orange columns represent the percentage of the battery’s power that is applicable to the higher-wattage mode allowing for 12 frames per second before the waning wattage fails over to a lesser framerate mode. Personally, I carry three sets of batteries for my R5 with BG-R10 battery grip as I'm a belt and suspenders type. I've never used more than one set of batteries and assume that one set of batteries should last about 1,000 shots. Also from the rumor mill, people say that the camera/lenses can malfunction below 60%. I've never seen this but carry extra batteries just in case. Camnostic tested multiple battery situations (including external batteries attached to a “dummy battery shaped like an L-e6) to chart real world expectations and even compared these results to third-party brands Neewer, Big Mike, Watson, and Powerextra. Canon also says this slight advantage for the R6 extends to focusing – while the EOS R5 can apparently focus in light down to -6EV, the EOS R6 goes slightly further by being the first EOS camera to offer a minimum EV for AF of -6.5EV.
