I didn’t know what to expect, but when Shae explained that this is was great for fans of Jurassic park, I knew that I had to try it out.

But in 2006, everything changed after a horrific incident at a small dinosaur reserve in Japan known as Enoshima Dinoland. Suma Ichirou made immense breakthroughs in genetics that allowed for the resurrection of extinct species, including (naturally) more dinosaurs. In addition to the manga story, there were full-page articles regarding facts about dinosaur anatomy and the professor's own theories on the subject. In his mind, it's a curse – he's a samurai who can't use a steel blade, a man who can't even get a close sha. This story follows a rookie zookeeper who is newly hired at Enoshima Dinoland, a struggling dinosaur sanctuary, and the fascinating creatures who need specialised love and care!

So, my minor misgivings about this chapter ultimately came down to me being a painfully pedantic nerd, and despite that I still really enjoyed that chapter. The artstyle is absolutely gorgeous with a lot of detail for both the dinosaur and human characters, but enviroments also aren't forgotten. Though at the same time, her fresh perspective and enthusiasm can offer innovative ways of attracting visitors to Dinoland. While he's incredibly competent in veterinary practice, he's also condescending, arrogant and mean-spirited.

There’s a lot more that I want to say about different aspects of the story, such as the character interactions, the drama of trying to keep a business afloat while doing what’s right for the animals, and the general public’s interest (or disinterest) in dinosaurs.Even though I was surprised by how scientific it was even if in hindsight the blurb obviously says that. If you, like me, wished there was a version of Jurassic Park where trained zookeepers actually took care of the dinosaurs, you’ve gotta try this series! Shiranui explains what’s wrong with Roy, Suzume gushes over his observational skills and competence. Plucky Girl: Suzume is a kind, cheerful, eager, and determined young woman who is very passionate about dinosaurs and hopes to get people interested in them again as more than just monsters.

I have often thought I would love a modern iteration of 'Prehistoric Park' that showed dino's being cared for in an animal park. Through breeding and genetic manipulation, dinosaur populations increased and dino-mania reached a fever pitch worldwide… until a certain terrible incident occurred. However, this is fixed in later chapters, showing adult Tyrannosaurus as sparsely-feathered as they should. Slice of Life: The series is pretty episodic overall, focusing primarily on the everyday activities the zookeepers engage in while caring for the dinosaurs, not unlike a behind-the-scenes zoo series. The next shorter tale is maybe my favourite, which focuses on two characters visiting the Dinoland on a sort of accidental date.It is an absolutely adorable story for both characters, but especially the extremely cute Benkai who constantly runs amok, but is also a little dino-genius.

TLDR; young girl with passion for dinosaurs never grew up and became a dinosaur zookeeper in her twenties. While the human characters, their relationships, and personal stories aren't anything supremely original (or at least yet, as this is only volume one of what I'm hoping will be a long-runner, so this could change with future installments), they work perfectly fine as support for the real stars of the show, the dinosaurs. Additionally make sure your User-Agent is not empty and is something unique and descriptive and try again. Judging by one kid's response to Suzume pointing out that birds are dinosaurs, the BAND ( Birds Are Not Dinosaurs) movement apparently still exists in this universe, despite bird-like feathered dinosaurs being alive to provide more than enough evidence for the dinosaur-bird connection. Wham Line: Occurs during an argument between Kaidou and Shiranui, revealing to the audience that Kaidou's role in the 2006 incident is linked to the death of Suzume's father, Suma Ichirou. This richly detailed manga tells the story of a rookie zookeeper caretaking dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes, sure to delight a dinosaur lover of any age. Career-Ending Injury: Masaru the Triceratops was once one of Japan's most popular captive dinosaurs, but he accidentally broke one of his horns.
