Another plus – if you have it – is the ability to use it with DJI's excellent radio microphone system though, though the GoPro has the option of a wireless mic or a media mod too. The camera is sold on its own or as part of the Logitech Rally Plus system, which includes a display hub with a pair of stereo speakers and a smaller table hub to which you can connect microphones.

The HDMI output in a camera comes in handy when you have to stream the recordings live on some monitor. You can also view a conference or any other video on TV or any other screen. The little screen on your camera may not always be enough, and you can transfer the scene to a bigger screen with an HDMI cable. The HDMI output immensely helps designers, editors, and creators a lot. Easy mounting and set-and-forget permanent installations in large spaces (churches, lecture halls, concert and conference venues, stadiums)

Added network streaming feature, which enables the encoding and publishing of video content using H.264/H.265. Depending on the camera manufacturer there also might be a native app, like the Panasonic LUMIX Sync Support app available for Android and Apple Devices. Nikon has a version. The same with Canon. While limited in functionality, the apps do offer a live view and record functionality. This is also a great feature if the camera needs to be separated from the operator.

But, first of all, I want to be clear that I always recommend providing adequate quality light if at all possible ( see the lighting section of First Things First). If you want to feed the video signal from your camera to a computer or switch box it’s essential that the feed doesn’t include the usual camera info icons, settings and focus frames. People watching your livestream don’t want to see that. While you can use many EOS cameras connected with USB and the EOS Webcam Utility, it’s not the same as the signal from a clean HDMI output. Clean HDMI Go for the camera with a resolution of at least 1280x720p. If you get one with 1920x1080, great! 4k resolution is not necessary, as most people watch videos on their phones. EOS 7D Mark II has a clean HDMI setting, in the HDMI output + LCD settings. However the EOS 7D Mark II is not an ideal camera for live streaming as in use I find that my camera will just stop outputting live feed after about 20 to 30 minutes. It’s as if the camera / sensor gets too hot and it needs a break. You then have to press the shutter button and the movie button or power cycle the camera to restart it. This is less than ideal. If you are also feeding a mic input in to the camera, auto is cutoff when the camera stops too. EOS 80D / EOS 200DSo when considering the resolution spec, consider the camera you will be using. If the output signal is full HD, is a higher resolution monitor necessary?
