The Teacher is very much about good V evil, I never expected to have any sympathy for a killer that could do such awful things to other people, but I did, as to the reasons why, well I’m not about to giveaway spoilers so you will just have to read the book and see.

THE TEACHER is one of those books that swallows readers whole, sucking them in on page one and holding them hostage until the very end.And for those who most need to read it — those in a position to effect change in the lives of conscientious and talented teachers who are considering abandoning the profession — one can only hope that its message will be heeded before it is too late. I really don’t like talking negatively about an author of whom I read her entire backlist, but it seems to be a trend these days to push out novels at breakneck speed, that’s all I am saying.

About 16% in there's a fairly graphic scene, and thinking back on it, it kind of makes me want to puke, but the rest are sort of left to your imagination. The disturbing story is narrated via the voices of Eve and Addie with chapters alternating between their points of view.Students dread Eve's math class like the plaque while Nate's English class is highly lauded especially among young teenage girls who swoon over his movie star good looks and charismatic personality while gossiping about how a plain Jane like Eve ever hooked a star like Nate. I barely made it through the first chapter before I contemplated setting this one aside and just moving on. I found it incredibly difficult to believe that not only did she not initially recognize him as a student at the high school she taught at, but that she never saw him around after they began the affair.
