ALIVE explores critical questions regarding the nature of youth, of adulthood and what it means to be trapped between the two. These cookies help provide information on metrics the number of visitors, bounce rate, traffic source, etc. Her disappearance is totally out of character and DI Isabel Blood and her team soon suspect foul play. Fighting her way free brings little relief — she discovers only a room lined with caskets and a handful of equally mystified teenage survivors.

Almost three months later, two of the survivors, emaciated and frozen, reach the authorities and lead a rescue team to the remaining fourteen passengers. The conditions facing the nineteen who survived were not so terrible that they did not all feel bitter sorrow at the death of their friends. They ration a bit of chocolate after a few days, but once that dwindles, they look to their fellow passengers as sustenance.Solo dieciséis de los cuarenta y cinco pasajeros que viajaban en el avión sobrevivieron al accidente y a los casi tres meses de indescriptibles rigores que sufrieron a consecuencia del hambre, el frío y el dolor.

And when the moment came when we did not have any more food, or anything of that kind, we thought to ourselves that if Jesus at His last supper had shared His flesh and blood with His apostles, then it was a sign to us that we should do the same--take the flesh and blood as an intimate communion between us all. Then the journey, the crash, their time on the andes, the expedition, their rescue, and the aftermath. Expecting to be rescued the next day, everyone except Javier, his wife Liliana, and Antonio eat the remaining chocolates.Yet another look at this tragic triumph, Miracle in the Andes written by survivor Nando Parrado, approaches the story in a far more personal manner than does Read in Alive.

Due to bad weather, the flight is forced to land in Argentina, where the passengers spend the night. It's really hard for me to believe that Read was only thirty-one years old when he was selected for this great project, even though he'd previously only written fictional novels. Creo que todos hemos escuchado sobre el accidente aéreo en los Andes en octubre de 1972 y de cómo algunos pasajeros lograron sobrevivir recurriendo al canibalismo. He continued to do this for several minutes, but the weight on his chest became more terrible, he grew dizzy, and he knew that he was about to die.

I also was interested to learn about the aftermath-their time in hospital recovering, and the early press conferences they gave.
