If you’re looking for a simple and cheap way to keep an eye on your rental property that you only visit once every few months, the Eufycam 2 is a great solution thanks to its all-weather durability. It sports a 365-day battery that should be able to run for months without being charged. Who’s it not for… Extrapolating our test data, we’re looking at over a year’s worth of battery life from a single charge, supporting Eufy’s claim. That said, it’s obviously a your-mileage-may-vary situation so don’t take our numbers – or Eufy’s – as the absolute, definitive battery life, but this should be able to help you set some expectations. Either tap the snapshot to view the footage from the motion detection, or view a list of motion detections from the current day. You can even access settings such as video quality, a battery life manager and access the ability to create activity zones, so you’re only alerted to motion in a particular area, reducing the number of unwanted notifications you receive. As for the app, it could use some work as well. I'd like to be able to delete more than 10 videos at a time without having to scroll down to load more. Like I said earlier, 200+ videos in one day was a bit much and deleting them took forever.

Once they're paired, it’s time to go outside and mount the cameras. We mounted ours onto the roof of our house - which took a bit of finagling - but theoretically it could mount to most surfaces if you’re handy enough with a power drill. The picture is extremely clear and colourful in the day. Infrared works very well for night time viewing and recording. I have a 2k indoor Eufy camera which is slightly better in picture, but not enough difference to worry about. I can hear everything outside well. Haven’t tried talking to anyone with two way microphone.as far as the first original camera that was working.... its still going strong and showing full battery. There are a range of modes that allow you to arm or disarm some, or all, of your Eufy cameras at the same time. In addition, you can set a schedule for when the camera should be recording.

Battery life, while rated for up to 180 days, is still a toss-up at this point for me. I have only been using the camera a few weeks now, so I can't quite say if it will meet this goal, but I can say that eufy does warn that having it connected to HomeKit will drain it faster. I am undoubtedly ok if I only get a couple of months between charges, but I am a little concerned about battery-aging as the internal battery is not replaceable. Eufy's Wi-Fi is WPA2 encrypted, all videos are encrypted with AES-256 and the data are double-encrypted. Although the EufyCam 2 didn't support two-factor authentication at the time of my testing the camera, the company said that it plans to add it in February 2020. Video quality You can set preferred zones to record, as to avoid constant triggers from traffic or anything else that may set off the camera. Over our three-week testing period in Northern California, we recorded well over 80 events from a single camera that were about 10 seconds each and the camera is still holding strong at around 95% battery life with the optimal surveillance option selected. (Eufy gives you three options - Optimal Battery Life, Optimal Surveillance and Custom - in regards to how often you want events recorded and how long the camera should record in each event.)

A quality home security camera

Features: The EufyCam 2 has decent features for the price, including HD resolution and human detection. Just know the human detection doesn’t work as well at night. Only receive the alerts** which matter. Customize the area in which detection takes place to suit your home. I installed these on monday evening. I and writing this review Wednesday morning. One camera has a dead battery already. After being fully charged. Lasted 36hours. I have 2 cameras in total install. Both have the same settings. Not impressed with the battery. Currently charging the battery and we will see how long it last. The temperature is last 2 days have been around -10 Celsius. Cameras are install outside. On the house. Saskatchewan. Canada The resolution is a bit of a double-edged sword here. Because it’s only 1080p, the HomeBase can store more footage of the Eufycam 2 than it can of the Eufy Video Doorbell that has a 2K resolution. The downside, of course, is that there’s slightly less detail in the 1080p footage. It’s not enough to blur essential details, but it does make it slightly harder to identify faces at longer distances.
