Impressively easy to use, bassists will be able to refine and jump between sounds effortlessly, making this compact reasonably priced multi-fx pedal a must-have. Key Features: The unit is a bit over the top with the carbon-fibre styling, and I hope it’s a bit more durable than it feels - you will definitely want a screen protector and a padded bag for this. The power adapter feels a little brittle plugging in, and I am slightly concerned about the longevity of the DI out, but it is what it is, Size: the pedal is big for a Zoom pedal...bigger than the G5n I use. I may need to carry it in its own case rather than stuffed in my gig bag. In Memory mode, the touchscreen displays the four patches in the selected bank along with arrow icons that scroll either way through the banks. The patches are also assigned to the four front footswitches. Pressing one, or touching one of the screen icons, will enable the patch. Memory mode, with its easy access to four patches, is really well suited to selecting alternate patches for different sections of a song. Patches can be easily renamed and could reflect song sections (intro, verse, chorus, break, for example). With four DI models and advanced multi-effects, the B6 gives you freedom to explore entirely new sounds.

In Effect Board mode, you are given a visual representation of your signal path whereby each of the six simultaneous effects will be assigned to a stomp you can switch on and off within your chain. This will be home base for many players as it gives you immediate access to different effects within your chain to punch in or out depending on the needs of the song. Silent running? Well that depends. My upper frequency detection system has been lost or replaced with some tinnitus so I simply don't hear the highest noise. Working from the pedal has to be easy for me because it's only in a band situation I really know how well I've programmed a patch. I don't have a computer at gigs and at present only IOS is supported via the optional Bluetooth. It is extremely simple to adjust. Really, really simple. And having real life, overall tone and volume knobs right there is just great. The experiment with discrete Send and Return did work to create a pseudo-parallel path. Kind of funky getting it sorted.

Expansion & Connectivity

Lastly, Looper mode does exactly what it says. Loop up to two hours directly onto an SD card to add layers and texture to your sound. Buskers or solo performers can use this to build a platform on which to create the rest of your song and using the built-in Rhythm patterns, you have your entire rhythm section inside of your B6. A worlds first, the Handy Guitar Lab for B6 provides accessibility for the visually impaired, featuring VoiceOver and VoiceOver Gestures to build your patches and sounds with only your voice, no other equipment necessary! Be ready for any situation with flexible performance modes

For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs. More thorough review to follow when I've learned how not to lose the patches I create 🤦. Including side by side comparison with other pedals. Even though it would eat up 2 slots, it would be great if it worked, to be able to have the ability to wet/dry mix between 4 other effects - mainly OD and compression. By using an SD card, the recording time can be lengthened and phrases can be saved. An SD card also enables use of other audio files as loops. Preselect Patch memories store effects and amps used, effect on/off states and parameter setting values, allowing easy recall. Effects are saved and recalled in units of patch memories. Up to 9 effects can be added to a patch memory, and up to 240 patch memories can be stored. Bank Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty

I didn't compare it with Line 6 to be fair. I chose it in preference to a variety of other multi effects because it has the effects I like and none of the others had all of them. It doesn't restrict me to one of each type of effect as some others do, it doesn't do parallel but the effects all seem to have mix options so that's fine, I know and like the brand. Oh and of four Line 6 products I've owned two have broken on me. None of my Zooms ever has. Outside of the Play Modes, Zoom B6 features two separate inputs with an A/B switch on the reverse of the unit. Switch between two of your electric, piezo, upright or acoustic basses and change the impedance between 1M to 10M ohms to achieve the perfect sound for your bass type. Get lost in a world of amps, cabinets and effects I found it to be utterly silent. Unless I plumbed in a high gain distortion followed by a flanger and reverb - but then show me any set up with those pedals which is silent! And there's a noise gate if you want it anyway. Finally, in Effect Board mode, the B6 touchscreen displays the effects chain for the selected patch, with the front‑edge footswitches assigned to enable or bypass four of the maximum of six effects. Assigning an effect to a footswitch is as simple as ‘dragging’ on the touch screen from the effect icon to the appropriate footswitch icon.

The available effect types include various bass effects and amp/cabinet simulation models. Effects can be selected from these types to be added to patch memories. Category Effects Board mode is also where you begin to configure and fine‑tune patches. This can be done by creating them from scratch or copying and modifying a preconfigured patch, but either way, it’s where all the fun starts. The B6 offers a total of 119 effects, each with an individual set of parameter controls, across 13 categories. The categories, followed by the number of effects in each are: Filter (13), Drive (13), Preamp (13), Bass Amp (11), Bass Cab (12), Modulation (17), SFX (7), Delay (7), Reverb (8), Pedal (6), Send/Return (3), and Impulse Response (1). Most of the categories are self‑explanatory, but those that perhaps aren’t work as follows... With the B6 in Bank/Patch mode, select an empty effects slot and then switch to Effects Board mode. The touchscreen will display six instances of the bypass ‘effect’.

Inputs and DI Boxes

Ideally, though, I'd like to be comfortable with the B6 for all occasions, so I'm hoping the new models and other improvements impress. IMO, pretty much everything about the B6 is a better than the B3n. Unless you're fully wedded to the WYSIWYG stomp switches and knobs legacy design (in which case the G11 would suit you better...for a jump in cost), there's almost nothing I prefer on the B3n vs. the B6. B3n is smaller, if that matters. Both require a little tap-dancing to switch their "play modes" from stomp mode to bank/patch to memory. This could be improved for the B6.
