With the classes being conducted in her family’s home kitchen one can experience true Indian household cuisine at its finest. In 2019, she was invited to be a Guest Speaker on Indian food on a Cookery Legends cruise around the British Isles. As always, the class will take a hands-on approach to cooking and you’ll be learning recipes from scratch. We’ll be filling your culinary brains with Indian wisdom – from traditional bites to a creamy homemade hearty curry and warming flavour-filled Naan, you’ll leave the kitchen a master of these dishes.

They offer both short duration courses and in-depth courses with a blend of dishes best suited to focus on developing oyur desired skillset. Indian cuisine doesn’t exist to be honest – we have very specific regional cuisines instead. Sometimes the tastes are like chalk and cheese; it would be like comparing Finnish cuisine with the food of southern Italy. Calling food Indian is just as vague as describing a dish as European. Born in east India but growing up in the north of the country, Atul came to appreciate food from a young age thanks to his grandfather – a baker – and his father, who owned a catering business. ‘I learnt a lot of things form a young age,’ he says. ‘Going to the market, buying the right ingredients, looking at the melons and pumpkins – it was a part of my everyday life’. Surinder and Safia are a mother-daughter duo from Punjab, dedicated to teaching people their North Indian culinary traditions. Both Surinder and Safia started their culinary training at the age of 8. In fact, when Surinder was 11 years old, she would prepare the traditional family meals at home after returning from school. Their goal is to provide people access to Indian cuisine by teaching them the traditional cookery methods of their ancestors.
