Description

She and Nonna take a trip to Italy, and as they visit the gorgeous town on the Amalfi coast where Rosie’s grandmother grew up, they have the opportunity to put some family secrets to rest – with a few unexpected discoveries along the way!

There was one plot point I was less keen on (I won't go into detail - no spoilers), but overall I really enjoyed this community-based book - my first Cathy Bramley read, but not my last! When Rosie took a stand in her social media marketing job, she goes back home to her Nonna's cafe and offers to work for a month as a favour to her grandmother, and secretly to perhaps organise the place a bit better, while trying to get a new job. You know, it is really hard to explain why I love Cathy Bramley's books so much without repeating over and over again that they are full of warmth, honesty, genuine characters and this so hard to capture feel - good factor - and "The Lemon Tree Cafe" had it all! there are TWO plots involving rape and the way one of them is in my opinion disrespectful and distasteful to both rape victims and trans people.

it took until part 2 to actually explain something that was prior just alluded to, however I was so very bored by them that I actually did not care what what was happening/ had happened to the characters. The reason I only gave it 2 stars is due to the way the author handled a sensitive storyline, I felt that the way it was dealt with let the book, author and most importantly any victims of that issue down and it ruined the book for me.

But when a family emergency throws them back together again, can she put aside the hurt of her past and embrace the happy ending she deserves? It is very suitable for a baby in a buggy, as you do not have to worry about space while sitting outside. Then something happens to threaten everything that Rosie holds dear, and she has to spring into action to save both the café and her fledgling relationship. And of course you can't have a book review, about a book focusing on an Italian cafe, without mentioning food, it sounded delicious.
