Description

DigeZyme: Protein Works’ DigeZyme blend consists of a blend of digestive enzymes, including amylase (for starch and carbohydrate breakdown), protease (for protein breakdown), cellulase (for sugar breakdown), beta-d-galactosidase (for lactose breakdown), and lipase (for fat breakdown). A. The process of harvesting and producing palm oil harms natural habitats for animals along with deforestation. Our innovations team are smart enough to engineer this bar with zero compromise, so we believe we’re helping the environment and animals by choosing to go palm oil free

Cost (8/10) –The bars are quite cheap, especially if you can find them at Costco. But since they have less protein than others, the cost per 10 grams isn’t perfect. According to Protein Works, you can take this product up to three times per day, along with your regular intake of healthy foods. Simply add 60g (1.5 scoops) to 350ml of milk or water. Shake to blend, and enjoy! Or, you can add it to your daily smoothie if you want a meal with more substance.Chicory Root Fiber: this ingredient offers the healthy dose of fiber found in this protein bar. The fiber, specifically, comes from the inulin found in chicory root. Studies [10] have shown that inulin works as a prebiotic, which creates a healthy gut environment, promoting good digestion.

These bars were supposed to be the best of the best vegan protein bars, and I wanted to put that to the test. I did find the ingredient list to be pretty lengthy and these do contain sweeteners as well as 2g of sugar. Sweeteners don’t always agree with my digestion, but one of these Protein Grazers seemed to go down OK.But, be aware that not all protein bars are made equal. Some contain high levels of sugar and 'empty calories', meaning your healthy treat could be anything but. To cut costs, some brands sweeten them with crystaline fructose, which delivers intense sweetness in small quantities. Consume too much of this ingredient and it can put you at risk of liver damage. Protein Blend: this all-vegan protein blend can help you feel fuller for longer, therefore assisting you in any weight loss goals you may have. Buying boxes of protein bars can save you 30% + on costs compared with purchasing them individually

While each of the ingredients in this product has a role, I’ll zero in on a few of the big ones. The benefits above come about thanks to these key ingredients: Priyankaa has an MA in Magazine Journalism from Cardiff University and over five years’ experience in health and fitness journalism. Priyankaa has written for Stylist’s Strong Women Training Club, where she regularly wrote about diversity in the fitness industry, nutrition tips, training advice and her experience completing various fitness challenges. She has also written for a variety of publications including Business Insider, Glamour, Bustle, Metro, HuffPost UK, gal-dem and more.

The Simply Bar is tied for the top score overall with 2 other bars, but since it doesn’t contain palm (and the other 2 do), I think it will appeal to more people and deserves to be listed first. Green Tea Extract: The benefits of this ingredient are two-fold. Studies [6] have shown that thanks to something called “catechins”, green tea extract helps with weight loss and maintenance. Plus, green tea extract has antioxidant properties [7], meaning that it helps protect your cells against damage. Protein Blend: You probably already know that protein is what helps you feel full, helping you eat less and lose weight if that’s your goal. According to one study [3], individuals who increased their protein intake by only 20% experienced a 50% lower weight regain, compared to those who did not increase their protein intake. To help you decipher what’s really inside your protein bar, take a look at the ingredients on the reverse of the wrapper. In an ideal world, the majority of ingredients will be natural and you’ll be able to recognise them. Think whey protein, nuts, seeds, milk, pea protein (v), soy (v) and egg, for starters. A lot of protein bars, especially vegan ones, contain high amounts of fibre, helping to support a healthy gut.

On the flipside, some protein bars are marketed as “meal replacement bars”, which can be eaten in place of a full meal, helping you eat fewer calories. It is, of course, down to preference. “While protein can aid satiety and leave you feeling fuller for longer, weight loss comes down to overall diet,” says Hope. When Should I Eat a Protein Bar? While protein deficiencies aren’t too common in western countries, most people don’t realize just how much extra they need if they’re looking to make big gains in the gym. The third “first place” protein bar also has palm oil, but is a lot “healthier” than the Clif bars (above).Cost (9/10) –The bars are reasonably priced, and with a high amount of protein per bar, they are one of the most cost-effective bars to buy.
