SPRAY APPLICATION: Can be sprayed with a traditional pump action Garden style sprayer with viton seals. Protective treatment can also be sprayed using an airless sprayer (Wagner or Graco type) ideally using a minimum 1mm flat fan tip nozzle (9 – 11 thou tip). The sprayer must be thoroughly cleaned after application with white spirit and then oiled to protect the tip and moving parts (as per manufacturer’s instructions) Application: - by brush, dip, roller or solvent compatible low-pressure sprayer only (not high-pressure & ensure weather conditions are dry and still). For use on bare wood which will be over-coated, for example with Barrettine Log Cabin Treatment or opaque paint, or physically protected from the elements. Areas affected by mould, algae or fungi should be cleaned with a stiff brush or scraper then treated with Barrettine Mould and Mildew CleanerAreas that have been affected by mould, algae or fungi should be treated with Barrettine Mould and Mildew Cleaner prior to application The final colour finish can vary considerably due to the age, type & condition of the timber being treated. We always recommend carrying out a test area first in an inconspicuous area to make sure you are happy with the final dried colour. Barrettine’s Wood Protective Treatmentis a wood sealer for rough, sawn or smooth timber. It contains water-repellent resins that help reduce decay, swelling, and twisting of wood. Its pigments have good UV fade resistance and will help protect the wood from UV damage. Less protection is given than Barrettine Wood Preserver Ensure that wooden surfaces to be treated with Barrettine Wood Preserver are clean, dry and free from surface dirt, debris and other surface contaminates. NOTE: Before overcoating, allow the wood to fully ‘weather’ after applying the preserver. This is especially important for water based paints as the wax contained in the preserver will repel the water and prevent adherence of the paint. The ‘weathering’ process can take several months. Tips Although the solvent content of this product can perish the washers and hoses of some spray systems, it can still be a time and cost effective way to treat large areas. We recommend that if using a spray system you try to complete the project in one day. This said however, depending on the type and brand of sprayer, it may take longer than this. Cleaning Equipment Apply Barrettine Wood Preserver using a synthetic brush, microfibre roller or shed & fence spray system*Suitable for rough, sawn or smooth timber, Barrettine Wood Preserver does not require over sealing for wood protection so can stand alone. It can also however, be used as a preservative base for overcoating with protective treatments, wood oils and oil based paints or varnishes, for aesthetic purposes (allow for weathering period). If using as a stand alone product, seven colour shades are available. Product Highlights Always do a test area before starting any project and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Only apply in temperatures of between 10°C and 30°C. Shake or stir well prior to and during application to ensure a consistent colour.
