There are some nice extras on the DVD, including a newly completed animation sequence that had been deleted from the original storyline - "Mumble Meets a Blue Whale. Still, to this day, the scene where Mumble and his Williams-infused buddies meet face-to-face with a pair of orcas remains one of my favorite pieces of realistic computer animation in cinema. Happy Feet: Music from the Motion Picture is the lyrical soundtrack album from the 2006 animated film Happy Feet.

As the latter plot takes over, the film shifts from a touching story of self-belief, to a more urgent ecological plea, but all the themes converge when Mumble's special talent saves the day.It was nominated for the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature and the Saturn Award for Best Animated Film, both losing to Cars. The Amigos unsuccessfully attempt to help Mumble win her affection by having Ramón sing a Spanish version of " My Way" behind Mumble, with the latter lip syncing. Happy Feet needed an enormous group of computers, and Animal Logic worked with IBM to build a server farm with sufficient processing potential. The film was dedicated to the memory of Nick Enright, Michael Jonson, Robby McNeilly Green, and Steve Irwin.

Film critic Yar Habnegnal wrote an essay in Forum on Contemporary Art and Society that examines the themes of encroachment presented throughout the film, as well as various other subtexts and themes, such as religious hierarchy and interracial tensions. After escaping from a leopard seal attack, Mumble befriends five Adelie penguins named Ramón, Nestor, Lombardo, Rinaldo and Raul, known collectively as "the Amigos", who embrace Mumble's dance moves and assimilate him into their group.Lovelace confesses they were snagged on him while swimming off the forbidden shores, beyond the land of the elephant seals. After seeing a hidden human excavator in an avalanche, they opt to ask Lovelace, a rockhopper penguin, about its origin. Happy Feet is a jukebox musical, taking previously recorded songs and working them into the film's soundtrack to fit with the mood of the scene or character. These growth spurts are highlighted by journeys to the Antarctic's frigid expanses, as a range of different characters -- voiced by the likes of Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Hugh Weaving, and the immediately-noticeable Robin Williams -- either accompany or hinder his path. The same idea can be attached to Happy Feet's ham-fisted conclusion, though it's a little harder to take its big environmental ka-pow even at mere face value without groaning a bit at the forcefulness behind it all.

Unfortunately in Antarctica his toe-tapping talent is deemed peculiar and poor Mumble is branded an outcast by the emperor elders and is even accused of causing the mysterious fish famine which is gripping the penguin community and threatening their way of life. The filmmaker behind the 'Mad Max' and 'Babe' franchises turns his attention to musical fowl" Archived 19 July 2010 at the Wayback Machine. Lovelace has the plastic rings of a six pack entangled around his neck, saying that they have been bestowed upon him by mystic beings. Like most computer animated features, Happy Feet looks exquisite in both standard-definition and high-definition, which stays true with Warner Bros.

In one corner, we've seen a good number of penguin movies that capture the same cuddly feel-good attitude, like Surf's Up, while in the other corner we've encountered our share of eco-friendly animated films that nail similar messages with more strength and concentration both, such as Wall-E. Most of the supplemental features available are mostly geared towards children, only sporting one or two add-ons that'll spark adult interest. On a technical or formal level, the film has also been recognised for its innovative introduction of Miller's roving style of subjective cinematography into contemporary animation. With fine voice acting and gorgeous animation, it still shows off why it received all the accolades it did in 2006.

Without a shadow of a doubt, each and every ounce of work put into capturing the environment with a realistic eye can be felt. At the forbidden shore, Mumble, Lovelace and the Amigos are attacked by the two orcas, during which Lovelace gets free from the plastic rings. This scene is done in Irwin's classic documentary style, with the albatross telling the viewer all about the other characters in the scene, and the impact people are having on their environment.
