A hive generally has two brood boxes—the larger boxes in which the bees lives year-round—and honey supers are stacked on top of those boxes during the spring and summer months to give the hive extra room.

Or will they simply fill that top box with new honey, and leave the bottom cells filled (and thus unable to be utilized by the queen)? I very rarely find a book worthy of 5 stars, but this one hands down is by far one of my favorite new books. At first it wasn't clear who Sage had romantic feelings for as she seemed to warm to all of the Charmed Four, but by end end she finally made up her mind. And I also discovered that three frames were in fact "honey-bound", if you define that as having capped honey all the way across the frame tops, but not ALL of them. I have at least 4 empty bars in their now, so I'm just hoping the queen hatches, mates and starts laying before they build those out and fill them with honey.Its tranquil and unhurried pace encourages a sense of relaxation, making it an ideal choice for unwinding after the roller-coaster of emotions often stirred by more dramatic stories. This enemies to lovers low-risk, high-stakes cozy fantasy romance is packed with sass, charm, and plenty of magic. The cover of this book is so delicately beautiful 🪄💖 It's such an adorable and intriguing fantasy read, with loveable characters and such a captivating storyline.

I am so happy that I read this, and I think it's one of those cozy books I'll reread again and again. Last week, since the brood chamber seemed to be full of honey, I added a honey super and moved a couple of frames of comb into the center of the brood nest. I think my hive is becoming honey bound and I think this is also what happened last fall to cause my original hive to swarm.

I wintered over with just one box and on the advice of many more knowledgeable people, fed the bees a dry sugar paddy.
