Hum, that's why I didn't tighten the screws too much (or much at all actually, I stopped when I couldn't tighten anymore without exerting force). It seems to me that this is almost the equivalent (in terms of physics) of not having the spacers (because the space is there), with the exception that if the TV would be tilted for whatever reason, the weight of the TV might pull the fixings towards the arm. :S This is just from our engineering experience as a recommendation. I would use the spacers you have to fill the gap if you want to prevent damaging the TV.

Yeah, I took your advice and remounted the TV, with 5mm nuts instead of spacers (5mm is enough space for the TV casing recession). When I said in my previous post "or can it be a bolt for example" I actually meant nut instead of bolt, I doubt that was clear. And that's what I ended up doing.
