USB adapter and cable: Use a USB-B type cable and an adaptor to connect the piano with the phone or the computer. The Casio CDP-S100 has been re-designed to make it more travel-friendly, now featuring the smallest footprint of any 88-note digital piano in its class. With up to 13-hour battery powered operation from 6 x AA batteries, or optional AC Adapter power, it can be played anywhere, any time. Whether you're travelling to shows, or using it as a dedicated home practice piano, the CDP-S100 won't let you down. Chordana Play Piano AppThe Chordana Play Piano lets you Easily control piano functions, learn new pieces of music and view accompanying sheet music in PDF format. Choordana Play Piano is available for both iOS / Android, so you can practice and playwith most smartphones. Personally, I recommend practicing with the standard preset, as it has the clearest tone of the bunch and allows you to pinpoint mistakes and weaknesses easily. Chordana Play also lets you control some functions on the keyboard, like switching between sounds and controlling metronome tempo.

In short, a digital piano is meant to emulate an acoustic piano to the best of its ability. Good digital pianos do this well in the sound department and the feel department. Layer mode allows you to play two sounds simultaneously and is a standard feature on most keyboards and digital pianos, regardless of price range. You should note that beginners shouldn’t have effects active at high intensities during practice, as these could end up masking certain mistakes that may end up becoming habits in the long run.Being able to power your keyboard with just batteries is a huge plus as it also has a power supply as well. You will run it off of batteries only in times where you can reach a power source. It can last 13 hours on battery life before having to buy new batteries. Sound

In one dedicated article, we’ve covered the best keyboards in this price range, so feel free to give that a read before diving into this review. Overall, the control scheme here is nicely implemented. Key combinations may seem complicated, but they do make the front panel a lot less cluttered, which is understandable since there aren’t too many features requiring dedicated buttons. The Casio CDP-S100 is the world's slimmest and most compact digital piano with 88 hammer-action weighted keys. An oustanding entry-level keyboard for those learning to play piano with proper technique at classical or professional level! New sound. New key action. New beginning. The musical expression you can achieve from the CDP-S100 belies its slimline dimensions, thanks to a brand new Dynamic Stereo Sound Engine and a dual 8W built-in speaker system. You can also plug in headphones for private practice. Most keyboards relying on key combinations (like Yamaha’s YDP 144 and Casio’s PX-S1000) require the use of a manual, since there’s no on-board guidance. Keyboards and digital pianos in this range don’t offer all the features of their more expensive counterparts, but that’s not to say they aren’t worth considering. The string sounds are less than stellar, but these will mainly be used in conjunction with the Layer mode where they don’t take the spotlight. All in all, the sounds are suitable and can serve as a valid substitute for beginners who need a digital practice piano.
