Not too heavy and no vibrations which is especially important as a female user as I'm able to easily control the feed rate. My only complaint is that you cannot leave the guide locking screws in the fixed base of the router when storing in the case. Hi all, space I was able to adjust my Bosch 1617 router to fit the Festool lr32 system here are a couple of pictures of how I did it. You may want to take a look at this thread on the base, replace the snap ring with a collar and it will never pop off.

It may be a heating issue or a vibration issue that they would not have come across in "normal" reconditioning. Both bases have large base openings with 2-inch subbase openings, accepting larger bits and providing better visibility. The Bosch Precision Centering Design allows the bit to be centered with the sub-base or optional template guides. Want the best of both worlds, then this kit is for you - It includes both the fixed-base and the plunge router. What I find the fixed base configuration useful for is trim functions using follower bits of various types- from setting the rebate for a high frequency driver after boring the original hole with a Forstner bit, or trimming a side or inner route flush using a 1/2" shear trim bit. The Power Tools Division of the Bosch Group is the world market leader for power tools and power tool accessories. So the 1617 is not a true lift because it's first adjustment (the large adjustment) is made under the table, however it can be micro adjusted (only when unlocked) and that is the only adjustment made above the table, even though you have to go back under to lock it after micro adjustment? Not enough to change my rating though, since all it took was a little compressed air around the switch to get it working again. As a professional, a lot is expected of you: speed, reliability, competence, endurance – in short: excellent results.

I already am thinking a second router for through dovetails, or at least a motor for the plunge base I already have.

Additionally, the Porter Cable jig I am looking at has guides that will fit the Dewalt but from other forums, not the Bosch directly. The body grip keeps it extremely well balanced for use with one hand and when you do dovetails using the knobs also keep it well balanced.

If you have a bad back and a enclosed router table and use your router daily, a lift may be worth the money to you. If you are into woodworking, would also recommend the Bosch 1594 3-1/4-inch planer, another well designed tool that performs better than expected, only way to describe is that it literally glides over the wood surface and no sanding is needed afterwards, who could ask for more? Lightly sanded the body with fine emery cloth and used it for a few years swapping between bases with no problems, for the last 4 or 5 years it has been used exclusively in my table.

The things so quiet compared to other routers that I get concerned it’s not getting very high rpm’s . It's been a while and I no longer own a 1617 but I think I had to rotate it so the flat edge of the plunge base is against one of the knobs, at roughly 45d angle (vs. I am attempting to learn dovetails and not having the bit centered in the bushing is detrimental to learning the joint. Compatible with optional RA1129 Template Guide Adapter Set - for easy change of Bosch quick-release template guides and common threaded template guides; includes RA1126 template guide adapter and RA1100 interface for threaded template guides. Might seem like a crazy question but will the Bosch FSN OFA router adapter plate fit the Festool rails and does the detent pin line up with the holes in the Festool rail?

This is serious stuff for power tool woodworking, cabinet grade MDF is like butter or cardboard in comparison. I did have to slow down on mdf, but that was more likely due to my bit than the router, though you hear the router kick into high power mode. The fine-depth adjustment on the fixed base is excellent and easy to use, offering very precise adjustments. I had considered hanging the router off of the splinter guard side, but not using a subbase to fasten it more securely to the router.I still have the Milwaukee 5625 in my router table with lift and have used it for literally hundreds of hrs and it still runs quiet and cool. What is the key feature that makes this router especially useful for some tasks compared with others I own? Bosch really put a lot of time into designing this router and its carefull placement of things, even the switch. While building, I realized that the router base needed to be propped up so that it's "level" once the whole thing is assembled.
