Aquatic elves are of elven ancestry, though with enough differences to qualify as a distinct ancestry. They resemble elves with bluish or greenish tinted skin, with long, webbed fingers and toes, and visible gills on their ribs. They also have nictitating membranes that protect their eyes. Modern literature tends to take a blended perspective on elves. While you can still find the occasional reference to elves being small beings, there are also plenty of storylines that present elves as being roughly human-sized. Where Do Elves Live? While both of these groups of women had something to fear from traveling to the Elven world, the wet-nurses were especially terrified of their fate. They were normally taken from their newborns and families to the Elven world to take care of the newborn Elf babies. While this doesn’t seem to be nefarious, it would have been frightening for any woman who was put in this situation. It was rumored that eating any food offered in the Elven world or taking any hospitality from them would keep a person from ever returning to the human world. It is unclear if these rules held to the wet-nurses – who obviously had to spend a prolonged period of time in their world, but the fear of being barred from returning to their families would have been enough to give them great fright.

Sea aquatic elves dwell among the schools of fish and creatures of the surface ocean waters. You can cast speak with animals at will with this trait, but you can target only beasts with a swim speed that are Medium or smaller. Sea elves fell in love with the wild beauty of the ocean in the earliest days of the multiverse. While other elves traveled from realm to realm, the sea elves navigated the deepest currents and explored the waters across a hundred worlds. During the Middle Ages, convents were often afflicted by mass motor hysteria, starting around 1400 and lasting about 300 years. While some or perhaps most nuns were devoutly religious, many others were placed in convents unwillingly. Many convents were poor and life was harsh with physical labor, a strict diet and unstinting prayers. Due to stress, many nuns would exhibit hysterical behaviours – from acting out sexually to signs of demonic possession such as foaming at the mouth, fainting and screaming to behaving as certain animals. Skyra is introduced in the first story-arc. She is a wind elf who was initially cruel and antagonistic towards Emily and the elves. When Emily helped her to move on from her heartbreak, Skyra adopted a different, gentler persona. She now helps Emily and the elves whenever she can. Male elves were often described as looking like old men, though this is not the case for all the elves that appeared in literature. There are also extremely handsome elves that appear and seduce women like the elves from Tam Lin and The Elfin Knight. Aquatic elves would sometimes take in water genasi children to raise, although in general the genasi secretly pitied the elves for not being able to leave the water for long periods. Water genasi who served Deep Sashelas sometimes worked as emissaries between aquatic elves and their surface cousins. Aquatic elves had stories of planetouched aquatic elves (similar to water genasi) descended from servants of Deep Sashelas, but there have been no recent examples of such people. These guardians are said to be the source of elemental powers for Elvendale. They were introduced in the fourth story-arc. The concept of private property, for the most part, did not exist among aquatic elves. [5] Whatever given aquatic elf currently carried on their person could be considered theirs, but everything else belonged to the community as a whole. [7] This particularly applied to tools, weapons, and other practical items. Any aquatic elf could take one of these items whenever it was needed and regardless of who had possessed it previously, although individuals were allowed to keep relatively private dwellings. Such communal ownership meant theft was almost unknown. [5] The exceptions to this were monarchs, who often had large and elaborate homes with limited access and many personal items. However, aquatic elven rulers were a reflection of their people and usually remained rather generous. [7] The freedom to borrow items at will was not extended to outsiders, and surfacers were often watched carefully to make sure they did not try to take advantage of the cultural practice. Aquatic elven communities were almost entirely self-sufficient, trading with others rarely and then only for luxuries. They subsisted on kelp grown on their farms and fish they hunted. Wandering heralds would deliver oral messages between communities. [3] [7] Aquatic elves generally spent around 75% of their time within shallow waters that were less than 150 feet from the surface, [16] although they could safely descend to around 600 feet. [17]Some sources seem to think that the elves may have arisen from Cain’s murder of Able. This is the case in Beowulf, which clearly states that elves came to be a race because of this unfortunate event. Semi-Banished Angels Rosalyn Nightshade is introduced in the third story-arc. She is a healer elf who has been chosen by the Guardian Tree to protect the forest and its inhabitants. Rosalyn helps Emily and the elves when Sophie is kidnapped by Cronan. An elf is a mythical creature that appears to be human in nature, but has magical powers and does not age (or at least ages very slowly). It appears that elves have their origins in Germanic lore, but they are also commonly found in other European folklore. Sea Elves are generally distrustful of other racesand will typically hide away from them. Many races do not respect nature and the seas and are often seen as destroyers. While other Elves might view Sea Elves as being a bit “wild” and “unrefined”, they are not savages and are simply knowledgable of those things outside of the typical book learning you might observe from a High Elf for example.
