For Melody 3 FS, Circolo FS and Genio 1st generation the whole descaling process is triggered when we press the Hot button, no need to press the Cold one, both channels are descaled. It is different for other automatic machines where both buttons need to be pressed. My capsule holder is much dirtier after Chococino and Nesquik preparation than after coffee. Why? Over time, limescale slows the flow of water through your machine and can reduce the effectiveness of the heating element making your beverage less warm. DeLonghi claims the genio s can create beverages in under 30 seconds thanks to its 15 bar high-pressure pump, which it says perfectly extracts the maximum flavour and aroma from each coffee pod, delivering a luxurious, crema-rich coffee. As with all pod machines, the clean up afterwards is minimal; all grounds are designed to stay in the pod for a mess-free coffee every time. No, the machine is not a perishable item and can be used as long as it works properly. Is the plastic hose used inside PE (Polyethylene)? PP (Polypropylene)? The machine also has an adjustable drip tray that could be placed higher when making smaller drinks to avoid splashing. Appearance-wise, the Genio S Touch is similar to the previous Genio S and Genio S Plus models in shape, but instead of a protruding round control panel, it features an integrated touch-sensitive display. It looks more streamlined.

The reason why the capsule holder leaks on the side is probably due to the fact that the connection between the needle and the water tube is not perfectly tight any more. The DeLonghi Nescafe dolce gusto genio s is very much an entry level machine, both in terms of price and in functionality. Having said that, it does what it can do fairly well. We like that milky drinks are possible and are so mess-free, and if you’re not too much of a coffee snob these are likely to satisfy your craving for a deskside cappuccino while working from home very well. Its plus points are how little worktop space it requires, its portability (you can easily take this on your staycation) and its ease of use which would be difficult to simplify. Anyone looking for more functionality, look to the s plus or the s touch for extras like espresso boost for that big caffeine buzz, or for temperature adjustments. Voucher codes What we can advise is that consumers can make 5-6 coffees in a row, but then they need to wait for a moment (1-2 minutes should be enough) before resuming extracting. Can I change the color of the red wire of NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto® machine? The needle must be cleaned with the cleaning tool provided with the machine and machine must be descaled. The coffee itself is perfectly good for a pod machine: we rather enjoyed the flavour of the americanos which tasted fresh and full-bodied as any manual espresso, though the fun of these machines is all in the experimenting so you can search out your own personal favourite go-to coffee. An Italian family company, DeLonghi boasts a strong history in coffee; it launched the first Bar line of machinery in 1990, and now offers everything from traditional espresso pumps to hi-tech super-automatic bean-to-cups. We recommend daily cleaning to make sure you will continue to enjoy the great coffee experience you deserve. For tips on daily cleaning and more, consult the user manual. Can I put some piece of my machine in the dishwasher? Using the espresso boost also seemed to produce better crema, as did longer extraction – water level two or three instead of the recommended one bar. The best crema formed on top of an americano: at about 0.5cm it was substantial enough for me to draw a line with the spoon without parting it. However, the presence of some small bubbles indicated it wasn’t entirely smooth.

The 0.8-litre removable water tank could be a little bigger. But you’re unlikely to notice it if you’re only making a cup or two at a time. On the right, a bean icon with a plus sign represents Espresso Boost. This is recommended to be used only with shorter coffee drinks, as you will only be able to get a maximum of three bars worth of liquid (roughly 65ml) with this function activated. The “boost” works by pre-brewing the contents of the pod for about 10secs before carrying on with extraction – this helps to strengthen the coffee aroma. When you start your machine and during the rise in water temperature, the on/off button flashes red for about 30 seconds. We put the genio s through its paces to help you decide if it’s right for you – here’s our honest verdict. Choose the appropriate water level (the amount of water is specified on each adapted beverage capsule). To ensure your full safety during the use of your machine, follow the "recommendations for safe use" in the manual that came with your machine. In the case of an automatic machine, you choose in advance the amount of water that will be delivered. The machine will stop by itself automatically. How does the system work? Select the cold channel, lift and put down the water tank several times and then fix it, flow should start. If not, the needle is probably clogged. The streamlined design of the machine does not allow for a capsule bin, which is slightly irritating as it means you have to remove the last coffee pod before brewing your next beverage, but provided the capsule is cooled and you’re not having to serve up several coffees at once, this is fine and not at all messy, so seems a fair trade off for the machine’s compact size.
