Description

This is the newer generation of the famous Frogman watch with its lopsided case, but with an all-analog display. It includes the latest tech and durability specs, as well as a unique feature that allows you to hide the hour hand under the minute hand to avoid confusion and allow you to only focus on the minutes, which are most important when diving. Features: World time (31 time zones, 48 cities + UTC, DST on/off), stopwatch (23:59’59 max, 1/100-second first 60 minutes, 1-second after 60 minutes, elapsed time, split time, 1st-2nd place times), countdown timer (24 hours, settable in seconds, minutes, and hours), 5 daily alarms, hourly time signal, dual LED light with 1.5 or 3-second afterglow, full auto-calendar, button tone on/off, 12/24-hour format, hand shift The GW6900-1 has 31 time zones for world time, while the GWM5610-1 has 29, and both have 48 cities. The additional time zones on the GW6900 are UTC+5.75 for Kathmandu (KTM) in Nepal and UTC-2 for Fernando de Noronha (FEN) in Brazil, and the cities of Miami and Toronto are omitted (as they are the same time zone as New York). The GW6900 has a front light button that is easier to access and press than the side light button on the GWM5610. Many people also find that the side buttons on the GW6900 are easier to press than the buttons of the GWM5610. The 6900’s easily recognized by its round shape flattened at the bottom, the “three eyes” (a.k.a., “triple graph”) and the light activation button located front and center on the bottom of the face.

The Triple Sensor is not a professional-level instrument. If your life depends on a good compass, get a good compass. Same for the altimeter. Due to body heat, the thermometer is only accurate off your wrist.

The GWM5610-1 is more compact and slimmer (46.7 x 43.2 x 12.7 millimeters versus 53.2 x 50 x 17.7). It is better suited to those with smaller wrists and those wearing tight-fitting long sleeves. It is also a little lighter (51.7 grams versus 63). You can put it on your wrist and forget it’s there. Although the GW6900 display is more capable in some ways, some people may prefer the look and the straightforward layout of the GWM5610 display. The main digits on the GWM5610 are larger than the GW6900, making it easier to read.

Features: World time (31 time zones, 48 cities + UTC, DST on/off, home/world time city swapping), 1/100-second stopwatch (23:59’59 max, elapsed time, split time, 1st-2nd place times, target time alarm, direct timing start button), countdown timer (60 minutes, settable in minutes), 5 daily alarms (with 1 snooze), hourly time signal, LED light with 1.5 or 3-second afterglow, full auto-calendar, button tone on/off, 12/24-hour format, hand shift Okay if they flushed down the light button lip to match the rest of the rim around the dial I could accept the triple graph size, so there is potential if Casio would move on from the nostalgia. Features: World time (29 time zones, 48 cities + UTC, DST on/off, home/world time city swapping), 1/1000-second stopwatch (23:59’59 max, elapsed time, lap time, split time, speed indicator), countdown timer (24 hours, settable in minutes and hours, auto-repeat), 5 daily alarms (with 1 snooze), hourly time signal, auto LED light with 1.5 or 3-second afterglow, full auto-calendar, 12/24-hour formatThe article contains other information, including anecdotes about current and former military members, as well some interesting reader comments. The solar and MB6 of this GW6900 make a more compelling argument for value but then you lose the absolute cheapness in price of the DW6900. The third circular graph is mostly eye candy, divided into ten segments which turn on / off sequentially as an ersatz second-hand during the default time mode, making a 360-degree “sweep” every ten seconds. In stopwatch mode, the pie graph segments represent 1/10th of a second and cycle on and off accordingly, making a 360-degree sweep every second. At the end though, I can’t get over the impracticality of these design hindrances to want to own it over my other far more practical options like the GD350. The Casio GW-6900-1 is a watch with a Tough Solar mechanism, meaning it is powered by solar energy. The watch features an LCD dial, providing a clear and easy-to-read display. It is designed to be waterproof and can withstand a water-resistant pressure of up to 20 ATM, equivalent to a water-resistant depth of 200 meters.
