Please test this firmware and let us know if it misbehaves in any way. Volunteers are standing by! Marlin 2.0 I hope this guide was helpful for you, and now you are running Klipper on your Sidewinder X2. The printer running Marlin is fine, but with Klipper the machine can be really good.

At the time of the last update of this article, there is no predefined default profile for the Sidewinder X2 in Cura. However, this is not a big deal, as you can use the profile for the X1 and adapt it for the X2. The slower the printing speed, the better the result. However, this will make printing take longer. The faster the print head moves, the less accurate it will be and printing errors may occur due to vibration. It is therefore important to find the right balance between too fast and too slow. The Sidewinder X2 is the further development of the Sidewinder X1* and has some features that not only eliminate common errors of the first version, but also increase the user-friendliness. Here is a brief introduction to the most important changes. If your object is only decorative, you can either print it completely hollow or with a low infill density to save filament. On the other hand, if you want to print objects that will be used a lot (such as toys), densities in the range of 15 to 50% are recommended. If you are printing objects that need to be very stable, you should use even higher densities or print them completely solid (100% infill density). Also with the print bed temperature, a slightly higher temperature than usual is good to increase the print bed adhesion. However, with some filaments, you have to be careful that it does not come to an elephant’s foot and the first layer is widened to the outside. Too high a temperature here could make the filament so fluid that it gives way under the weight of the layers above it.

While in my review I complain quite a lot about the differences between the Sidewinder X2 and the X1, I still think that the printer is great. It’s a partially upgraded Sidewinder X1 that offers great print quality out of the box for a fair price. It’s a similar board to the one we get on the Artillery Hornet, but this time we get the Ruby V1.2. I am not sure what’s changed between these boards, but I like that they use ARM chips. Although, I am not sure how this will change in the future, considering the huge chip shortage. I switched the filament again and printed this awesome Swamp Thing model from Eastman. There really isn’t any flaw to this model, and even the Z seam is nicely masked by the awesome detail the Sidewinder X2 is able to produce. The high-quality broadband power supply is underpinned by sophisticated technologies and a stable power supply. It is also important that the extrusion is set correctly, otherwise the joints would jam. The print bed adhesion of the textured glass print bed was sufficient to print this object flawlessly. Also, I did not need Magigoo to further increase the print bed adhesion.

Customer Reviews

The volume of the Sidewinder X2 is about 33 dB loud on average during printing. This corresponds to a whisper. During printing, however, it occasionally reaches 50 dB when printing diagonally. Except for these peaks, it is very quiet, even compared to other 3D printers in its price range. Extruder: The Bluer Plus only has a Bowden extruder, but it reliably pushes the filament to the hotend using a dual drive system. This makes the Sidewinder X2 more suitable for flexible filaments. Bluer Plus V-Slot Wheels with Suspension When infilling, it is important to select the right density and the right pattern. Different patterns are available for different stability requirements. The best way is to start from the default settings for the retraction and the retraction speed and then try to optimize the result in small steps up and down. Remember, though, that you should only change one value at a time so that you know what caused the changes in the 3D print. Print Quality

Print bed: The textured glass print bed provides very good print bed adhesion for most standard filaments. I mainly printed with PLA and only had difficulties with the print bed adhesion for very filigree first layers. However, this could be corrected with some Magigoo. The flow rate determines how much filament is extruded per time unit. It is expressed as a percentage and is usually 100%. If you increase this value, more filament will be extruded, if you decrease it, less filament will be extruded. Via the menu, you can also easily set the Z-Offset (the Z-Offset globally sets the zero position of the print bed). Before you can use the automatic print bed leveling, however, you must roughly adjust the print bed manually. If the print bed is very uneven, the sensor can no longer compensate for the inclination.

3D printer with an unbeatable price-performance ratio

The Sidewinder X1 direct drive extruder was pretty good, but it had some design issues which made it less efficient, and more prone to failures. Specifically, the plastic idler which broke all the time, and the separate heatsink which was not that effective in keeping the heat break cool. Another improvement is the bend protection of the print bed cable. On the X1, the cable could kink during printing and break in the long run. Sidewinder X2 vs. Bluer Plus Artillery developed a 32-bit mainboard, which is characterised by its high stability, powerful computing power and great expandability.
