Iain S. Thomas shared that he was suffering depression when he wrote this book. This book is so much more because these were the words he wanted to hear (and maybe heard) when he was in that point of his life. He didn't just write it for him. He wrote it to everyone who needed to hear these words.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I was able to read this book in exchange for an honest review.This book felt so new, and so fresh and different, somehow, from the other ones, despite still creating a warm and homely feeling in me as I read it, exactly like all the others had. I loved that, that kind of feeling from these books and these poems in particular, I always believe that that is irreplaceable – after all, I haven’t experienced it anywhere else or with any other author. I loved that there was playing with form, structure, even colour of the text. The drawings peppered throughout were lovely, and always in the right places. I recognised the author through his previous writing that enticed me, but unfortunately, fell short to entertain me. You know how in The Tale of Winn-Dixie there are those lozenges that taste like melancholy? That's kind of what this book is. It's sweet and not really bitter while also filled with, well, a certain type of melancholy that's utterly and absolutely relatable if you've ever been in a relationship and gotten out of one.
