Description

For those unaware, Mafi wrote the first three books and then there was a very large gap before she wrote Books 4-6.

That is not the case with “Shatter Me”. “Shatter Me” was like my first attempt at cooking a turkey over-done. It was like climbing Mount Everest tiring, watching kids play outside your window while you are taking a test distracting, and my dog throwing his bone at me silly.Adam Kent is a mysterious character who has a connection to Juliette’s past and when first introduced to Adam she feels she has seen him before but dismisses the notion. An 18 year old man with attractive blue eyes and brown hair he and Juliette bond together in captivity. However, one day the leaders of The Reestablishment come to reclaim Juliette for their own purposes and Adam is revealed to be more than what meets the eye. He turns out to be a solider for a specific part of The Reestablishment known as, Sector 45. With a leader who comes to be another pivotal character in this book and his name is Aaron Warner. The Change for Juliette As such, the romance in Shatter Me is all very PG-13. There is no smut or explicitly sexual content.

Hey!” Kenji shouts. “I am not here for this abusive relationship, okay?” He points at Warner. “I did not sign up for this shit!” Juliette, one of the main characters and whose point of view is in every book in the series, can fend for herself. Thank god! Juliette knows how to get a job done and doesn’t need someone to constantly swoop down and save her, unlike in a few other series I’ve read. *cough cough* Twilight I could seriously keep going, but I'll spare you the novel of a review I could write and leave you with this..... Adam has the personality of a potato. An especially bland potato. He is boring and dull and all he has going for him is his ridiculous insta-love for Juliette. I HATE INSTA-LOVE. They tried to play it off as childhood sweethearts but seriously she let someone cheat off her when she was nine and suddenly Adam thinks she’s gods gift. He treats her like some kind sweet innocent little flower that he needs to protect. She’s a kind person, that doesn’t make her an endangered species Adam, jeez. Juliette is tough under all her whining, anyone could see that. She needs to be pushed and challenged to wake up the real Juliette inside, not coddled. Never mind he captures J. Puts her in jail to suffer for almost a year, stalk her in jail, tries to force her to do things, makes her believe she killed a child, corners her, wouldnt take no for an answer so she had to shoot him

Following Juliette Ferrars’ Story

Okay, I have not properly reviewed this series since I read it a year ago (and I don't think I ever can because it would be ridiculously long and the book is so quotable that I would literally be citing the entire thing) but Shatter Me is one of my favorite series of ALL TIME. And it has my FAVORITE LOVE INTEREST of ANY BOOK I'VE EVER READ. Butttt, to anyone considering it, watch this: http://youtu.be/dJt-lGmBSTs. I just found that fan video the other day and I can't stop watching it. I'm sorry but if that doesn't make you want to read this book you do not have a soul. READ. THIS. BOOK. You will either love it or hate it (depending on how you feel about prose) but if you love it than O.M.G. you will love it like you've loved nothing else. Juliette's "power" or "glitch" or whatever the hell it is, is never fully explained in detail. It's skirted around in a mass of overwrought metaphors and complete bullshit. I went into the Shatter Me series very skeptical. I'd heard the strikeouts were annoying and that the writing style was strange and confusing. Well, I absolutely couldn't disagree more! With the Shatter Me series, Mafi cemented herself as an A-list writer on my score sheet. Breia Brissey (November 22, 2011). " 'Shatter Me' author Tahereh Mafi talks her debut dystopian novel". Entertainment Weekly. The psychopath in question winks at me from where he’s standing, smiling like he couldn’t possibly be holding a gun to the head of our mutual friend. I manage to suppress a laugh.

Besides Juliette's constant whining and lameness and the cringeworthy romances, this story was just a sadder and lamer version of X-Men. It had too many X-Men vibes going on. I get Juliette instant attraction to Adam, first person to be able to touch her her whole life? Shes gonna feel something. That something however is not love, if anything its lust and the first taste of friendship she’s ever had all mushed up. And that’s being generous to Mr Dull Potato Adam. The only redeeming quality to Adam is his love for is brother James. I do love it when YA shows some good sibling relationships.

Castle: Leader of the Rebellion (Omega Point). Castle is a thirty-year-old scientist with telekinetic powers. He is portrayed as a wise, fair and compassionate person. He is highly knowledgeable and is the first one who accepts Juliette as she joins the Rebellion, although he keeps many secrets about her true identity from her.

During her captivity, Juliette develops a romantic relationship with Adam. It is revealed that Adam knew Juliette prior to the asylum, and is in love with her, and that he can touch Juliette without being harmed or killed. Adam eventually helps Juliette escape from Warner, and as they escape, Warner's hand brushes against Juliette's ankle, revealing that Warner also can touch Juliette without consequence. Toui, Meriam. The Shatter Me Series Reviews and Media Reaction

If you're a fan of character-driven stories, high-stakes adventures and captivating romance, the Shatter Me series is definitely a must-read! 🚀📚👏 One last thing – the ending? That pissed me off the most! Xavier’s school for Mutants in Rebellion of the Oppressive Dystopian Régime? FML! And the suit, using that word loosely, that they provide for her at the end? Yeah, that’s great… Now Kenji is in the center and a bunch of other character whom i forgot their names but somehow deserved their own chapters I catch the rose petals as they fall from my cheeks, as they float around my body, as they cover me in something that feels like the absence of courage.
