We just encountered a question that means the difference between him winning by two points or me winning by one: there is a bonus card that gives 3 points for each “bird that allows you to score or draw bonus cards.” Does a bird that allows you to copy a white “when played” power (like the rose-ringed parakeet) count for this card, or is that too far of a stretch? I used the parakeet to copy my neighbor’s “draw bonus cards” power and hubby is saying that it doesn’t count toward the bonus card points because it’s not a true card that allows you to draw or score bonus cards. Stop after 1 is another argument you could make. Because you’re looking at a 49.5% of 2 points vs. a 50.5% of -1 points. Which is still an expected return of .486 points, so you should keep going, but vs. a sure thing? But if you stop after 2, you’re looking at a 70.4% chance of 1 more point vs. a 29.6% chance of -2, which has an expected return of .111 points. Just for context, the Nightjar’s power is “Once Between Turns: When another player takes the “gain food” action, gain 1 insect from the birdfeeder, if there is one, at the end of their turn.” A new card color which is not optional, but mandatory it if you’re in the habitat. (Maybe connected to desert birds, where food is scarce.) E.g. you have to give a card / food token to another player. You must lay an egg on this bird. Etc.

If 3 players had tied for first place, they would split the points for first, second and third place. Hello! I just wanted to say that I love playing Wingspan. I have both expansions and I play almost every night. I just had a few ideas about future expansions. It should be noted that you are at the mercy of the birds you actually have access to, so you will not be able to secure these spaces in the most optimal way some of the time, but being aware of highly impactful birds and what spaces on the Duet Map are optimal at each stage of the game will go a long way to giving you an edge over your opponent. Question 2: Australian owlet Nightjar…one of those ‘between turns’ powers. He had started his turn and then remembered I had gotten food…does he get food when I finish my play or when he ‘remembers the power? So, in the first round, that should be 3 or 4 tokens, which is probably MORE tokens than you can place, but she places them less intelligently than you do.For the birds with an activation stating “Gain 1 grain from the birdfeeder. You “may” cache it on this card.” Does this mean there is another option of putting it into your food supply? Round categories: we have created extras since we play often. It’s been fun trying them out to see what works. Certainly you guys have tons of ideas for these on the future expansions. When bird powers refer to a specific food type, nectar is not a wild food. If a bird’s power looks for mice in the birdfeeder, for example, do not also count the nectar there. The brown power for the hermit thrush says…players with the fewest forest birds gain 1 food from bird feeder. What do you do if there is a tie?”

Iris: Thanks for your requests! Perhaps someday we will put together a complete, consolidated rulebook after all expansions are complete. I keep thinking a Birds of Paradise expansion would be brilliant. The cards would be stunning. Maybe an unique (Sir David) Attenborough mechanism introduced. 😁 A terrible accident happened the other day as coffee was spilled on the table in the middle of a game! As a result of that unfortunately some cards got damage. I do sleeve my cards (well duh, I’m not a savage) so most of the cards were unharmed. Is there a way for me to replace my damage cards without having to buy a whole new set? The design question is about the Painted Whitestart card. While this is a correct name for the bird, it is used much less commonly than Painted Redstart, which is the generally accepted common name. Do you know the reason behind choosing Whitestart? Pros – Great artwork, new birds, new powers, new bonus cards, able to play w/ 6-7 players now, and the new duet 1v1 mechanic. I’m almost exclusively a 1v1 player, so definitely excited to try out the duet mode. Seems like it will make playing birds more fun. I could go on and on about the great things to look forward to, but since most of the comments online already highlight these things, I digress to the “negative nancy” cons that I haven’t seen as much.

To restate, do we identify “fewest” by birds played across your -own three habitats- or do we compare the number of birds played across -all players’ wetlands- to decide who has the fewest? I just heard about the form to submit new birds for future ideas/expansions on Jamey’s webcast yesterday and rushed to submit my all-time favorite bird! Such a fantastic idea!
