Description

Ellie Makes a New Friend” is an adorable story that will encourage any little one make new friends. My son is starting pre-K in the fall and is worried about making friends. I love how this book started us talking about ways he can be a friend to someone. We also talked about the importance of choosing the right friends. The original version, released on Parlophone R 4219 in October 1956, [2] was recorded by English child actress Mandy Miller with an orchestra conducted by Phil Cardew. [3] It was arranged by Ron Goodwin and produced by George Martin. Although never a hit single, it was played countless times on BBC national radio in the UK in the 1950s and 1960s, particularly on Children's Favourites. The story is done in a scrapbook style. I love the fresh and unique look this gives the story. The font is easily read, highlighting key words throughout the story. This not only adds visual interest, but focuses on key points in the story that as a parent I can use as discussion topics later.

Activity: Draw a self-portrait of yourself from a picture. Make sure to include everything about yourself. (Eye color, hair color, if your nails are painted, glasses, etc.) After you are done drawing your self-portrait, write a paragraph explaining your favorite thing about yourself and what makes you special and stand out just like Ellie. In preceding books, including “Sweet Land of Liberty,”“Land of the Pilgrims’ Pride,”“Yankee Doodle Dandy,”“From Sea to Shining Sea,”“Christmas in America,” and “Hail to the Chief,” Ellis learns about the pivotal moments that have shaped our nation. Now, in Remember the Ladies, this adorable pachyderm explores the fascinating lives of our first ladies. In preceding books, including “Sweet Land of Liberty,”“Land of the Pilgrims’ Pride,”“Yankee Doodle Dandy,” and “From Sea to Shining Sea,” Ellis learns about the pivotal moments that have shaped our nation. Now, in “Christmas in America,” this adorable pachyderm explores the tales and traditions that have made Christmas a cherished part of the American experience.

Thanks! We've added you to our list.

The zookeeper makes a difficult announcement...the zoo would be closing. To the animals, this was their home. What would happen to them?

The lesson is further reinforced by using stuffed animals as the characters. Children have a natural love for that type of toy, so in some sense it improves their ability to empathize with the lost child. This is a great book for children, it is easy to read, involves characters and situations they understand and provides a valuable lesson for dealing with others. In preceding books, “Sweet Land of Liberty,”“Land of the Pilgrims’ Pride,” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” Ellis learns about pivotal moments that have shaped America. Now, in “From Sea to Shining Sea,” America’s favorite time-traveling pachyderm discovers a new and growing nation along with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Lewis and Clark, Sacagawea and others.Woollard, M.; Poposki, J.; McWhinnie, B.; Rawlins, L.; Munro, G.; O'Meara, P. The story uses situations that my kids can relate to, like going out for ice-cream or playing on a swing. My son is easily able to understand how much more fun playing on a swing set or eating ice-cream is with a friend, rather than playing on his own. Authored by Ambassador Gingrich and illustrated by Susan Arciero, “Hail to the Chief” will delight young and old alike with a glimpse of the leaders who helped make America an exceptional nation. Ellie Makes a New Friend” is the first book in the Amazing Adventures of Ellie the Elephant series. I have read the first two book in this series and my kids and I are in love with the stories. My son is an avid train fan and normally will only want to read book about trains, will ask to read the books in this series over and over again.

He is author of "Kilimanjaro: One Man’s Quest to Go Over the Hill," a non-fiction account of his attempt to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, and a short story collection called "Real Dreams: Thirty Years of Short Stories." He also wrote and illustrated three books in the World Adventurers for Kids Series: "Alexander the Salamander," "Ellie the Elephant," and "Zoe the Zebra." Kent, David (1993). Australian Chart Book 1970–1992 (illustrateded.). St Ives, N.S.W.: Australian Chart Book. p.312. ISBN 0-646-11917-6. The characters are adorable stuffed animals that you can tell are loved very much by their owners. My daughter loves that the penguin in the story is very similar to a stuffed penguin that she currently owns. Authored by Ambassador Callista L. Gingrich and illustrated by Susan Arciero, “Christmas in America” will delight readers who want to discover how the celebration of Christmas has prevailed and brought out the best in our nation.

The rhythm and tempo of this song is often used to teach people the rhythm of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The recommended rate for CPR is 100 chest compressions per minute. A study at Coventry University compared the effectiveness of this song in maintaining this rhythm with an alternative of " That's the Way (I Like It)" and no song at all. The version used for the study was from a Little Acorns brand children's record, and was found to have a tempo of 105 beats per minute. Singing the chorus of the song twice, with a compression on each beat, results in exactly 30 compressions, which is the international standard for CPR. [6] Betts, Graham (2004). Complete UK Hit Singles 1952-2004 (1sted.). London: Collins. p.793. ISBN 0-00-717931-6. This is a delightful story. It has a happy ending. The art is gracefully done and peaceful to look upon. "Ellie" reminds us that each one of us has something special to give to the world. Sometimes, it takes a bit of seeking to find that talent, that ability, that specialty. Ellie found hers after much dismay, but she becomes an happy elephant and the reader becomes happier once the tale is told. Summary: This book is about a sweet elephant named Ellie. Ellie lives at the zoo with the rest of her zoo friends. One day the zookeeper gathered the animals and told them that the zoo was closing, the animals were heartbroken. All of the zoo animals decided to all pitch in and help clean up the zoo to make it look nicer. Everyone seemed to be able to do something to help but Ellie. Ellie felt like everyone had a talent but her. Ellie took the zookeepers paintbrush and started painting and she made beautiful paintings all around the zoo. Word spread about what Ellie could do. People from all over the world came to have their portrait painted by Ellie. Thanks to Ellie, the zoo was open for good!

a b Rawlins, L.; Woollard, M.; Williams, J.; Hallam, P. (2009). "Effect of listening to Nellie the Elephant during CPR training on performance of chest compressions by lay people: Randomised crossover trial". BMJ. 339: b4707. doi: 10.1136/bmj.b4707. PMC 2792674. PMID 20008376. The use of "Nellie" resulted in correct timing for 42 out of 130 cases, as compared with 15 for no music and just 12 for "That's the Way (I Like It)". However, the depth of compression was found to be inadequate in most of those cases, and the use of "Nellie" was found to increase this inadequacy slightly, as compared with the use of no music (56% too shallow with "Nellie" and 47% without). [6] Authored by Ambassador Gingrich and illustrated by Susan Arciero, “From Sea to Shining Sea” will delight those who want to know how brave Americans forged a growing nation and spread freedom from coast to coast.Authored by Ambassador Callista L. Gingrich and illustrated by Susan Arciero, “Yankee Doodle Dandy” educates and entertains as Ellis the Elephant experiences the American Revolution. With beautiful illustrations and charming rhymes, “Yankee Doodle Dandy” is a must read for young and old alike who want to know how America became a free and independent nation. Ellie the Elephant is a sweet and caring elephant who enjoys helping her friends. Yet, no matter how much she cares for the other animals, she remains a sad little elephant who never smiled. Four of her closest friends decide to find out why Ellie is so sad, so they follow her around to observe her throughout her typical day. They soon learn that Ellie has a very sad story to tell indeed. The Monkey Who Cried Crocodile is a fun retelling of The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf. Tough Guy Rex is about a rhino that is far too friendly for his family’s expectations. A Flamingo of Many Colors centers on Fatima the flamingo who’s unhappy being the same old boring color, pink. In Prince of the Jungle, Lyle the lion is surprised to suddenly find out he’s a prince. I love Uncle Amon’s stories. There are always wonderful activities included at the end for kids to explore further. Older children should have no trouble reading these stories alone and younger children should enjoy having them read to them.
