I also didn't care for either of the main characters. They weren't for me. Avery Soko, the FMC, has a very childish tone to her POV (in that if I wasn't told her age, I'd think she was a teenager and not a grown woman). The "enemies" part of things is due to the fact that because she's immature, she doesn't forgive misunderstandings/doesn't offer Luca the chance to actually show his side of things because she constantly assumes the worst about him. She cares more about winning than the mission of her start-up, seen when she is reluctant to work with Luca's team even though their conservation efforts are complementary. She also doesn't handle rejection well - which, you would think would be a point of development for her - but at the point I stopped at, it seemed very much like she was being pandered to by the other characters who validated her instead of actually trying to be mature about things. At 12:22, static came over Gosling’s radio. The men shivered and drank their coffee. On the radio, a distraught voice said: “We’ve got something.” Authors, if you are a member of the Goodreads Author Program, you can edit information about your own books. Find out how in this guide. pacing was WAY too fast. like you're telling me after one night of sleeping together you're already saying I love you the next day (not the next day but you know what I mean)😭??? make it make sense.

This is the story of lessons learnt - with some blood, sweat and tears - during 40 years of pastoral ministry. With sincere honesty, Don Barry lays open his challenges, failures and successes, taking us on a journey that saw a lot of water under the bridge - and loads of other stuff too. Water Under the Bridge shows Lily is one of the best Aussie authors (I have read) when it comes to really nailing characterisation. I LOVE the sound of Chalk Hill as a community and, oh, the joy in that name Honeychurch! Inspired! Kate and Jude, upon first sight, immediately know that there is something special and unique about each other that will pull them together. Kate is a bad girl, looking to "settle down", wanting a husband, house, kids.. the works. Here comes Jude, not sure what he wants, besides Kate, but he knows he has to have her. They both have secrets and both like to be in control. Can their intense, obsessive love overcome these issues, or will they find that they bring them closer together even if a power struggle comes into play? Oh I sure did enjoy this book so much! The introductory chapters gave me a different idea of the story and I started predicting the future happenings, but as we proceeded towards the end, I realized that all my theories were wrong.. Oh lord!! This was MAGNIFICENT!!! These were the middle chapters which I kind of hated. Every now and then Kate would start fussing over something so silly and irritating like... Damn! I have HUGE respect for Jude who could handle her efficiently without killing her.

I honestly am so disappointed because the enemies to lovers workplace trope had so much potential and it wasn’t really executed right. It was literally “insta lust/love” from first sight and this book is the perfect example of the “he only bullies/hates you because he likes you omg!!!” trope?/?/?/

Their story is set in another favourite setting for me - near the Porongorups in Western Australia - having been there less than six months ago, it felt familiar (which is always a good thing for me). A story of moving on, belonging, and opening hearts, Water Under the Bridge is a novel that I've been waiting to read for ages ... and it was absolutely worth the wait. This was such a fun read! If you want to go in completely blind, I highly suggest not reading this review (or any others) until after you finish the book. That said...Woven with stories of church life at the coalface, this book is a vital call for leaders to allow the contours of their life and leadership to be values-shaped. This was really good for a debut and it took me by surprise how much I actually enjoyed it given that the authors are from tiktok.

She lay awake and thought about being rescued from the descending spiral of shabby rooming houses, each one worse. Of the diminishing of old pals, the eventual state home for the aged, recognised the fact that in all her born days of entertaining men in and out of bed, she'd never before had a legitimate proposal of marriage. The story focuses on the romance between Ella Davenport and Jake Honeychurch. Ella and her son Sam are newcomers to town, and the pair meet when Ella is selling Jake's grandmother's house. It's not exactly love at first sight- in fact Ella finds Jake irritating! Still, it doesn't take long at all before the two of them have fallen hard for each other! Honestly, it's a blink and miss it moment for exactly WHEN it happens! Denise and Kels did a great job making these characters feel real. The dialogue felt natural and dynamic, and workplace setting and the ocean conservation aspect were also well done. I am so happy they chose to make this dual POV because Luca's POVs had me melting. Godfrey's portraits are complex and unsentimental… A homicide is best told as a story, and this marvelous book makes this very clear." Luca Navarro, the MMC, is an attempt at a grumpy character that again, I don't think was executed well.

Other Books of Interest:

I really enjoyed this Australian rural romance! It was an easy read with the right amount of drama to keep the story moving along and me interested in how it would all end. Ella and Jake were both interesting characters with intriguing pasts that came with baggage to their current attraction - just like reality, their fledgling relationship has it's ups and downs. There were a few 'sexy' scenes (nothing too dirty) that gave me a giggle while I was reading. Ella's ex Erik was a great very likeable addition to the story, and the other characters that made up the community of this fictional small town are all quite realistic and easily imaginable. I’m in awe. this book was, what listening to Taylor swift feels like. An overall enjoyable work place romance!

Kate and Jude are killers. Like for real. Both of them are serial killers. They are calculating and smart and I have no idea how they even worked, but they did. Water Under The Bridge is about following your dreams and accept love on the way. Ella Davenport need a change after her marriage ended and the lost of her self-esteem she decided to move to Chalk Hill to start a new life and career. Jake Honeychurch did not want to sell his Nanna's house, but his brother Abel wanted it sold. Jake decided to give Ella Davenport the contract to sell Nanna's house. However, things did not go the way Jake Honeychurch wanted. The readers of Water Under The Bridge will continue to follow Jake Honeychurch and Ella Davenport to see what happens. When news breaks of a proposed waterski park, a local developer starts sniffing around Honeychurch House. Ella’s first sale is so close she can taste it, until a sharp-eyed local recognises her. Luca wasn't appealing (??) to me. I didn't feel that "spark" at all just your typical guy really he could have been better tbh. The men holding the rope felt a sudden, sharp pull and thought together and silently, we found her. The young missing girl. She would be there, on the bottom of the Gorge. When they first meet, he never could have anticipated what the future held for them. It made me think of a Criminal Minds episode, you know, when two like minded individuals encounter each other and immediately know WHAT they are, and it ain’t normal.
