Description

I created this flyswatter review game to give my Algebra 1 students practice identifying the different forms of linear equations. My categories were: Standard Form, Point-Slope Form, Slope-Intercept Form, Horizontal Line, Vertical Line, and None of These. Players must race through the swamp while completing math challenges and meeting swamp creatures along the way.

There are options for toddlers up to teens, and some games can even be customized to the players’ ages and ability levels. Whether your students are swatting flies, traveling through space, or making their way through a swamp, they will be practicing math concepts along the way with these great math board games! In this mode, players are able to gain points more rapidly by tapping the flies as they fill the screen. Here’s a post I wrote about playing this same game in Algebra 2 with the different forms of a quadratic function.Another idea is to include a timer so the kids must try to swat the word before the timer (10 seconds or so) runs out! The child wraps a string around the key from the problem to the correct answer and then turns it over to check their answers. Read aloud a fly card, and the first child to correctly swat the fly gets to collect and keep the card. We love how versatile this game is since the rules can be adjusted based on age, skill level, and number of players.

Math board games that have eye-popping colors and fun illustrations like this one will be sure to keep kids’ attention. If you are one of the many students who cannot understand algebra concepts and rules, don't worry about bad grades and poor assignments. So, I decided to control the number of students standing up and thus (hopefully) control the chaos in my room.Plus, the biggest piece of advice I can give you about using interactive notebooks is to give the students opportunities to use them. The group set-up for test corrections actually hasn’t worked as well for me in my classroom since I have such small classes.
