In the team challenge mode the key is patience. Use the seemingly slow initial phase to move your piece into a region where there are plenty of disease cubes. Without many cards in one’s hand the best action is to keep the diseases under control. Then, after about half a dozen turns, it is time to start using the cards in the hand wisely. The team wins in the same way as the Mutation challenge and The Bio-Terrorist wins if the players lose and there is at least one purple cube on the board. The Bio-Terrorist instantly loses (and is out of the game) if the players ever eradicate the purple disease, which means he/she must plan well. In a nice twist, everyone loses if the players lose and there are no purple cubes on the board. The challenges include a fifth disease, Mutation, which must be cured or not present at the game board when the players score for victory. Another challenge is the Virulent Strain, which makes one disease particularly deadly, replacing standard Epidemic cards with new ones. Each such card represents a special nasty effect that this particular epidemic has on the game play.
