Description

The unit sports a dual speaker, which is decent enough for a radio of this price, though the sound is little flat. If you’re after a bright and cheerful DAB that won’t cost the earth, this is an excellent choice. The Pure Evoke H3 is all about giving consumers the perfect combination of sound quality, easy-to-use features, and sensational style. We found the practical user interface very intuitive, which is nice if you’re looking for a radio that’s going to be suitable for a range of users. mach99:I get the distinct impression that some digital signal has been sent out which trashes the 'older generation' of Evoke 3's. Evoke say that they cannot ensure that their products are " futureproof" which I can understand... that would be impossible... but to wash your hands of a product that for me is only a few years old makes me wonder about ever buying a Pure radio again... as good as they are! It's what we call a 'USB loader' screen and it's the same message you'll see if you're attempting to update the radio manually (maybe to a later version of software), or if the radio has suffered a software problem it can't get itself out of and requires recovery.

Next up is material. Read through the product description for Pure Evoke H3 DAB Radio to get an understanding of the materials the product is made from. Some materials will obviously be known for delivering better quality item than others. You might also have decided that you’ll only accept a product made from a particular material. Transmitted using radio waves, analogue radio — which includes FM and AM — was the default for broadcasts before digital radio came along. AM was the most widely used radio format in the UK until it was overtaken by FM in the mid ‘80s. The vast majority of analogue radio stations are broadcast on FM and while some of these are simulcast in AM, very few are AM-only. chris_t:Evoke say that my old set is not compatible with DAB+ if it is ever launched and that nothing can be done about it. I get the impression that my radio will just become a silent ornament if this does ever happen but that hasn't been made clear to me. Price is another really important factor for analysing the quality of Pure Evoke H3 DAB Radio vs other products in the Radios category. It’s obvious, but you will need to set your expectations of quality based on your budget and the price of the product you’re looking at, against the price of alternatives. Volume can be boosted without too much distortion though with only a simple mono speaker on board, the audio is a bit weak compared to more highly priced units. A decent basic option if you’re after a durable little DAB that can be moved around at will.Large items (delivered by two people, such as appliances and furniture) can be returned using our Home Collection service.

There are now more than 50 stations broadcasting nationally on DAB, along with many regional and local stations. You can listen to them without interference and – as long as you can get a signal – you’ll get flawless, clear digital sound. Connect headphones for private listening or plug your music player in and play your music through the H3. John Lewis plc, registered office: 171 Victoria Street, London SW1E 5NN. Any Evoke-3 radio suddenly reporting the need for a software upgrade will appear with a message on the screen saying something along the lines of 'Waiting for Upgrade - Press any key to exit'. Just before we get into the detail of analysing the price of this product, we want to briefly highlight the importance of setting yourself a budget before you spend too much time shopping around for a suitable product. It’s all too often that we get carried away when shopping and find ourselves buying a fantastic product, but probably actually overdelivers on what we need and therefore costs a lot more than we should have spent. So spend a bit of time looking around at the sort of price you can expect to pay for products in the Radios category and use that alongside your own financial situation to set yourself a budget.

It’s the sound quality, style, and general performance of the Pure Evoke H3 that makes it a great buy for those in need of a reliable DAB radio. This forward-thinking device is compact, easy to use, and brimming with functionality that just makes it a delight to use. Of the 57 products, we discovered that 8 were more expensive and 48 were cheaper than Pure Evoke H3 DAB Radio. Prices from Pure

My Pure Evoke 3 has stopped working this week. It's only around 3 years old and seems to be a software problem... Welcome to the Pure Software Update Centre. From here, you can access free and paid-for upgrades for Pure products. Although you won’t be able to turn the sound up loud enough to disturb your neighbours with the Evoke H3, you can rest assured that even if you turn the device up to the max, you won’t experience much by way of distortion. Pure Evoke H3 review: Verdict The Uno is a pint-sized version of the original Revival radio. And just like its older sibling, it sports Roberts’ distinctively adorable 1950s styling. It’s 35 per cent smaller than the original but has a similar gold speaker grille and cursive ‘Roberts’ logo on the front. While all the others radios found a DAB signal straight away, the Uno needed some repositioning before it would search for stations, so you may need a little flexibility when it comes to positioning the radio and aerial. Once connected, the audio is more perfectly respectable for a radio of this size. A cute classic that’s hard to resist. The display even shows station or album art. The big surprise here, though, is that the sound is so warm and punchy, although it takes on a slightly boxy tone as you push the volume up. It’s not quite as brilliant as a Bluetooth speaker, where it goes slightly woolly with a soft high-end, but it’s nigh-on impossible not to love this blast from the past. As an aside, in response to the earlier comment. My unit was I believe at the latest version, it simply re installed it

It looks like there is something wrong with this model regarding the auto update. If I had been able to turn off the auto update I think this could have been avoided. There was no need for it to update as I'd already done it manually. We test DAB radios by setting them up from scratch, scanning for channels, then listening to a range of stations and material over a period of around one week. During that time, we’ll also test Bluetooth streaming where available and use battery-powered devices away from the mains to see if the audio quality changes. We also evaluate how long the batteries last. Where possible, we make direct A-B comparisons to other radios of the same size and class. The dial is really easy to operate with your thumb if you’re holding the radio in one hand and sits alongside a small selection of polished metal buttons, which are all pretty intuitive to use. The next day I tried to plug on the radio and to turn it on but the radio is completely dead, it does not power on at all. I cannot do any factory resets etc as the radio does not even turn on - it is completely dead. Use Evoke H3 as a wireless speaker with your laptop, smartphone or tablet devices. Simple to connect and control, Evoke H3 will allow you to enjoy your favourite TV shows, movies and music apps in great, full range sound.More information on quality can be found in this old but still very helpful article from Harvard Business Review. All they have offered me is the opportunity to buy a new unit at reduced price as the out of warrenty repair people cannot offer me anything This is the third generation of Ruark’s mini radio, which now features a sharper OLED screen as well as the familiar top-mounted RotoDial controller. This makes the whole unit very simple to use. You’ll get Bluetooth connectivity and 10 presets apiece for DAB and FM, and the unit is also future-proofed with DAB+ support on board. Evoke H3 includes a headphone output for private listening and an auxiliary input for connecting to any device.
