About this deal

Brain is the industry standard name for a computer virus that was released in its first form on 19 January 1986, [1] and is considered to be the first computer virus for the IBM Personal Computer (IBM PC) and compatibles. One of the four characters is chosen at random, and their equipment tiles are laid out beneath them - each adventurer has six themed equipment tiles that will help them through the dungeon. The 13 monster cards are shuffled and placed face down, along with the success cards, that players take if they win a round.

Text on these chits is relatively small and often quite dense. However each hero will have two pieces of equipment that increase HP and the rest have easily expressed effects. Verbalising play and options available can be used to illuminate and reinforce what is currently available. There’s no gameplay information leaked by inquiring what equipment is still in play if necessary although if you ask something like ‘Uh, is the dragon spear still available?’ you might tip your hand (either honestly or dishonestly). They can take a monster card in secret and decide if it should be included in the dungeon or not - if they want the monster in the dungeon, they simply place it face-down on the dungeon pile, but if they decide not to put it in the dungeon it is placed face-down in front of them. To keep a monster card out of the dungeon, one item of adventurer equipment is sacrificed by placing it on top of the card. Either way, each turn players know a little more about what is, or isn’t, in the dungeon. A player who gathers two success cards wins. A player who loses two dungeons is eliminated from the game. FUTURE ROUNDS Not put it in, and remove the Dragon Spear tile, kind of a ‘neutral’ option for you, but one that leaves other players with the fear that the Dragon may be in the dungeon, and that it is now (almost) undefeatable. Players will unanimously choose or randomly draw the first adventurer. This adventurer is shared by all players for this round. get all the needed equipment for this adventurer, and place it below the adventurer card.

Players don’t choose to attempt the dungeon, they choose not to, so one player will be the last remaining and will have to enter on their own. Yes, that’s player elimination (gasp). Generally, this is okay as the game isn’t normally long enough for it to be a problem (with two players of course one player automatically wins if the other is eliminated). However, a four-player game can range from just two rounds (two successful trips to the dungeon for one player), up to (an admittedly unlikely) 11 rounds, so it is possible to have to sit out for a full eight rounds, but we’ve yet to see that happen. Summing up Welcome to the Dungeon Monsters all come with their own individual art, and while the palette will obviously impact on this it’s still attractive across all categories of colour blindness. Monster art and number code, rather than colour, is what conveys the information regarding this element of the game. I mean, it’s ‘stupid metaphor, well I guess that explains everything’. A catchy song, but very dumb. One of the four characters is chosen at random, and their equipment tiles are laid out beneath them – each adventurer has six themed equipment tiles that will help them through the dungeon. The 13 monster cards are shuffled and placed face down, along with the success cards, that players take if they win a round. Put it in the dungeon but make a mental note to remove the Dragon Spear on a future turn because you don’t fancy going in and want to make it harder for others? OBJECT OF WELCOME TO THE DUNGEON: The object of Welcome to the Dungeon is to either successfully complete two dungeons first or be the last player standing.
