The first one comes with The Hobbit, which I haven't read. I don't mind buying it separately though. It's a good time to be a Lord of the Rings fan. The upcoming Gollum game"puts the spotlight on an unlikely hero," and looks to be another solid entry into the pantheon of Lord of the Rings games. I need some help choosing an edition of the books. I've never read any of Tolkien and I wanted the experience to be special. I know this depends on personal taste, but I would like some input from loyal fans who know Tolkien’s fiction and appreciates the way he wanted his work to be perceived.

Is the unique book thing relevant? Also, the 50th Edition has illustrations from Tolkien himself, which I don't see mentioned in the 2020's one (Maybe they are also included, I just don't know).
