Description

This is quite large compared to the compact model, which has a footprint of only 1,166cm squared, with a height of 27.9cm and a width of 58.6cm. If your outside space is on the small side, whether that’s a balcony or a small garden, every bit of it matters. Cooking Needs: Think about the type of cooking you plan to do and the number of people you typically serve. The Lumin offers a larger cooking area, making it more suitable for larger gatherings or more elaborate meals, while the Lumin Compact is ideal for smaller groups or simpler dishes. Another factor to consider is how many people you will be cooking for. If you plan to use the barbecue as an extension to your kitchen throughout the summer, mostly cooking for a small group like you and your partner, the compact model might be the way to go. The easy-to-use control element attaches to the side of the Weber Lumin and detaches for easy storage.

These optional accessories can help you make the most of your Weber Lumin or Lumin Compact Electric Grill, so you can enjoy an even more satisfying and versatile outdoor cooking experience. With the Lumin Compact offering the same features as the original Lumin, only in a smaller size, these electric grills cater to a wide range of needs and preferences. We were thrilled with the Lumin’s performance right out of the box. However, there are some factors that we weren’t able to test. How does it fare at producing high temperatures when it’s freezing cold outside? Is it truly weather-tested for use (or storage) in the rain? Does the electric element have the longevity of a gas or charcoal grill? Only time will tell, and this grill was released too recently for us to have answers. Warranty It also heats up fast and can be plopped safely on to any outdoor table (the heating element is slightly elevated, so even if you don’t get the dedicated grill stand, you shouldn’t do damage to whatever the grill is sitting on). Especially for an electric, the Lumin is a good grill. It requires fewer compromises than lots of other plug-in models. What can you do with the Weber Lumin?

Who is the Lumin electric grill for?

On the other hand, the Lumin Compact Electric Grill offers a more budget-friendly option for those who have limited space or simply prefer a smaller grill without sacrificing performance. Assessing the value for money The value for money of each grill will depend on your individual needs, preferences, and budget. Both the Weber Lumin and Lumin Compact Electric Grills have a lot to offer, so it’s up to you to determine which one best aligns with your grilling requirements and priorities. Overall, I can definitely see the Weber Lumin being a firm favourite for many people, due to its ease of use, authentic barbecue flavours and compact size. New barbecues and experienced grillers can both benefit from using the Weber Lumin and it’s well worth considering if you have a small outdoor space. Collapsible Stand with Side Table: Designed to make your grilling experience more comfortable and efficient, the collapsible stand with a side table offers a sturdy platform for your grill while also providing extra space for food preparation or serving. When not in use, the stand easily folds up for convenient storage.

Weber’s mains-powered Lumin Compact barbeque is quick to heat up, powerful and well worth the investment

Otherwise, the inside can be cleaned easily, and the heating element can even be removed to allow the bowl liner to be cleaned. Performance However, if you are after a BBQ for entertaining at parties and you need space for cooking multiple things at once the Lumin is very limiting in terms of capacity. While it comes with plenty of clever features to switch up the cooking style these can only be used one at a time so you are committed to it until the BBQ cools down. This isn’t a big deal with gas or charcoal grills, as the fire burns off any caked-on bits. With an electric grill, the consequence is a little more obvious, and it smoked like crazy after we grilled a few burgers. When it comes to value for money, both the Weber Lumin and Lumin Compact Electric Grills have their strengths.

So, let’s dive right in and explore what these Weber electric grills have to offer! Introducing the Weber Lumin Electric Grill So, is an electric barbecue as good as a charcoal or gas barbecue? Well, I got to try it out for myself as Weber kindly invited me to their launch event of the Weber Lumin. Despite the rain – which as any Brit knows is perfect UK barbecue weather – the Weber Lumin performed well, proving that it can be used in any conditions. At its highest temperature, this heating element glows red hot and draws 2.2kW of power which is about the same as an average kettle. Despite the high power consumption, electric barbecues are generally considered the cheapest style of barbecue to run in the long term, and the best part is that they never run out of fuel so you can go on grilling till the cows come home. We wouldn’t recommend leaving your barbecue exposed to the elements outside all year round. However, if you don’t want to move your barbecue inside after every use (and we can’t say we blame you), then you should consider getting the Lumin premium barbecue cover. Eco-friendly: As an electric grill, it doesn’t require charcoal or propane, making it an environmentally friendly option.Adequate cooking area: The 180 square inches of cooking space still provide enough room for cooking various dishes at once. Price: The Lumin is relatively more expensive than the Compact version, which might be a concern for budget-conscious shoppers. As someone who loves grilling, I was excited to try out the Weber Lumin grill. Right off the bat, I was impressed with its large cooking area, which allowed me to cook various dishes simultaneously. The four versatile cooking modes, including High-Heat Sear, Steam, Grill From Frozen, and Keep Warm, catered to my diverse cooking needs and preferences. While Weber says the grill is designed to be safely used for outdoor grilling, rain or shine, we recommend storing it under a grill cover, just in case. We have some concerns about exposing the electrical components to the outdoor elements. My next experiment involved smoking a salmon fillet so I followed the instructions and replaced the left-hand grill top with the smoking tray and filled it with wood chips. Why Weber suggest the left side and not the right I don't know – I mean it’s not as if the left side of the heating element is a different temperature to the right. But anyway, Weber recommend starting on full heat for about 5 minutes to get the chips smoking and then reducing the temperature by turning the dial to the smoke icon. I’ve got to say, the results were really impressive – the fish was perfectly cooked and it definitely had a light texture and very pleasant smokey flavour.
