About this deal

Additionally, Cocoa Loco, Divine, Booja Booja, Moo Free and Montezuma are palm oil free companies whilst Plamil get our best rating for palm oil. The flavour for the egg was good, very similar to the chocolate you would find on KitKat bars, it has a sweetness to it but still a rich cocoa flavour. It was the second-best tasting chocolate egg, behind Cadbury, and was a nice surprise. Nestlé eggs used to be a bit underwhelming but it looks like they've improved the taste a bit. Despite not being very excited by the idea of this chocolate at first, Coppins and Duignan were surprised to find that they actually enjoyed the minty chocolate taste of this bunny-shaped Easter treat. Sascha Macchi, Senior Brand Manager for Rowntree's said: "If we had to sum up our Randoms Squidgy Swirls in one word, it would be scrumptious! Our newest chews are deliciously fruity and creamy-tasting, with an immensely satisfying squidge. They make a fun and playful treat for fruity chew lovers of all ages!" Available in milk chocolate and caramel flavour sharing bags, Aero Melts will be available in supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide from the beginning of February. Hi, I'm Sarah! Diagnosed with coeliac disease 20 years ago, I'm on a mission to create the best gluten free recipes since sliced bread. No fruit salads or dry brownies here. Maltesers provide a good offering, but the egg was a bit underwhelming (Image: Corey Bedford/LeicestershireLive) Another offering from Mars Inc, but I had high hopes for this one. Galaxy is one of my favourite chocolate bars and I was excited to taste an Easter Egg made with it for a change. The Kitkat bunnies are quite nice, too. The chocolate is nice, like the egg, with small pieces of wafer inside them. Would I rather have actual Kitkats in the Easter Egg? Of course. But it's a nice addition that makes it feel more like an Easter egg.

Vegan easter eggs: all the above brands make some vegan varieties (usually the dark chocolate ones). But Booja Booja and Plamil only make vegan easter eggs. Recommended Buys Is it Fairtrade? Many agricultural products are grown by overworked and underpaid workers. Lookfor Fairtrade to make sure that the person growing your chocolate is receives a fair wage and working conditions. If you're going out of your way to buy a Galaxy Easter Egg, personally I think it's only justified that you expect the chocolate egg to be made from Galaxy, not the same plain, underwhelming chocolate you get in all other Mars Inc Easter eggs. I was really disappointed because I had high hopes for this egg, and then I realised I'd bought an Easter Egg pretty much identical to the last, give or take the chocolate that comes with it. I've swept the supermarket shelves of Asda, Co-Op, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose to find all the Easter eggs which are gluten free. I'd still give it a solid 7/10, just for presentation of the interior, the better value for money, and the chocolate on offer was still nice enough and enjoyable. Galaxy Enchanted Eggs

The first chocolate egg was thought to be released by Cadbury in 1905 and was milk chocolate flavoured. The large sized Creme Egg Easter Egg on sale this year features a hollow egg with just two additional Creme Eggs. Quality Street I've broken this blog post into two sections for ease: Gluten Free Easter Eggsand Gluten and Dairy Free Easter Eggs.

A brand new innovation, Aero Melts are delicious buttons of light and bubbly chocolate that melt effortlessly in the mouth for a moment of chocolatey indulgence.

In 2012, Nestlé Confectionery UK becomes the first major confectioner to remove plastic from all its Easter eggs, creating the first 100% fully recyclable range Some of Plamil's eggs are UTZ certified whilst all of Tesco's easter eggs are certified by the Rainforest Alliance. Getting into the taste, the chocolate tasted good, it had a bit more of a snap to it than the Cadbury chocolate egg, but had a good sweetness to it. It did feel like it was missing something compared with the Cadbury egg, though. The ‘fast start’ phase focuses on shoppers looking for small treats for themselves, such as Cadbury Creme Egg and Cadbury Mini Eggs. With about three-quarters of shoppers who buy Easter confectionery early intending to buy again, it is important to have the products they are looking for to meet these consumers’ shopping expectations.”

Guides to help you find the most responsible companies and brands. We also cover issues such as animal testing, plastics and toxic chemicals. Last but not least, we have Nestlé's KitKat Easter Egg. This box consists of an 150g chocolate egg and two 29g KitKat bunnies, coming to 208g overall. The chocolate egg comes in at 795 calories, made up of eight recommended servings of just under 100 calories. Sophia Padt, senior brand manager for Easter at Mars Wrigley Confectionery, says 50% of shoppers consume small self-treat products and small sharing and novelty confectionery items make up as much as 40% of early Easter sales. The chocolate was so impressive that Duignan and Coppins told Stuff reporters that they could keep the leftovers of the other eggs, as long as they could save their Lindt leftovers for their parents to try as well.

This list is by no means exhaustive but contains most of the major supermarket and named brands I could find on the shelves. With a bag full of chocolatey goods and two hungry tummies, it was time to put the treats to the test, and Duignan and Coppins rose to the occasion with enthusiasm and confidence. KitKat has also launched the new KitKat Chunky Salted Caramel Popcorn Chocolate Easter Egg which has crunchy corn pieces throughout the chocolate. It's a sweet and salty treat, perfect for sharing amongst family and friends.
